Principal TPM, Rendering Foundations
Job Description

DESCRIPTION

Rendering Foundations builds the platform that powers customer experiences across Amazon's Store, from the rendering engines and layout systems to the managed services that enable thousands of builders to ship CX at scale. Our platform serves as the backbone for how Amazon's retail pages are assembled, rendered, and delivered to hundreds of millions of customers worldwide.

We are looking for a Principal TPM to drive cross-cutting initiatives that span multiple engineering teams, partner organizations, and long-term architectural investments. This role operates at the intersection of platform strategy and execution. You will own programs that make our platform easier to build on, faster to ship with, and more reliable to operate. You are building for builders, your customers are the engineering teams across Amazon who depend on our platform to deliver their experiences.

In this role, you will:

  • Define and drive multi-team programs that close capability gaps, reduce platform complexity, and accelerate builder velocity across the rendering stack
  • Own cross-cutting campaigns (e.g., framework migrations, architectural simplifications, developer experience improvements) that require coordination across dozens of teams and hundreds of engineers
  • Partner with engineering leadership to translate technical strategy into executable roadmaps with clear milestones, dependencies, and risk mitigation plans
  • Drive alignment across partner organizations with competing priorities, navigating ambiguity to deliver outcomes that serve both platform health and builder needs
  • Establish mechanisms for tracking progress, surfacing blockers, and maintaining accountability across distributed teams spanning multiple sites and time zones
  • Influence investment decisions by quantifying the cost of inaction, articulating technical debt tradeoffs, and building the business case for foundational investments

The ideal candidate has deep experience running large-scale platform programs, a strong technical foundation, and a track record of delivering results through influence rather than authority. You thrive in ambiguity, bring structure where there is none, and have a bias toward mechanisms over heroics.

A day in the life

You will lead the alignment of competing priorities across builder-facing teams and platform teams, establishing mechanisms that scale adoption without creating bottlenecks, while providing regular data-driven updates to executive sponsors on migration progress, risk posture, and investment tradeoffs. You will be working with platform engineering teams, partner organizations, and senior leadership to define and drive the strategy for migrating Amazon's rendering stack to next-generation frameworks, shaping qualification criteria, sequencing adoption waves, and resolving cross-cutting capability gaps that span multiple teams and codebases. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of technical product or program management experience
  • 10+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
  • 5+ years of software development experience
  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience
  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
