The Preschool Spanish Teacher is responsible for providing an engaging, age-appropriate Spanish language experience for young children. The teacher will introduce basic Spanish vocabulary, phrases, songs, stories, and cultural concepts through fun, interactive activities that encourage children to develop an interest in and familiarity with the Spanish language.

The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, patient, creative, and enjoys working with young children in a nurturing preschool environment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct age-appropriate Spanish lessons and activities for preschool children.
  • Introduce basic Spanish vocabulary, greetings, numbers, colors, shapes, animals, family members, and everyday phrases.
  • Use songs, music, movement, stories, games, puppets, art, and hands-on activities to make learning Spanish fun.
  • Encourage children to participate in Spanish through repetition, conversation, and positive reinforcement.
  • Incorporate Spanish naturally into classroom routines such as greetings, clean-up, transitions, meals, and play.
  • Introduce children to age-appropriate Spanish-speaking cultures, traditions, music, and celebrations.
  • Adapt activities to meet the different developmental levels and learning abilities of children.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, welcoming, and positive classroom environment.
  • Supervise children at all times and follow all center health and safety policies.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, and other teachers.
  • Communicate appropriately with parents and staff regarding children's participation and progress.
  • Work cooperatively with classroom teachers and center administration.
  • Maintain appropriate classroom records and lesson plans as required.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities as required.
  • Follow all applicable state childcare licensing regulations and center policies.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Fluency or strong proficiency in Spanish.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Experience working with preschool-age children preferred.
  • A warm, patient, and nurturing approach to working with young children.
  • Ability to create fun and engaging age-appropriate activities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a teaching team.
  • Must meet all applicable state childcare licensing requirements.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience teaching Spanish to young children.
  • Early childhood education coursework preferred
  • Experience working in a preschool, daycare, Montessori, or early childhood education setting.
  • Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
