Responsibilities:
Responsible for understanding operational requirements including Hardware, Architecture, configuration, Integration and maintaining mission critical production PostgreSQL databases.

Replication using various methods like streaming, cascading and logical.

HA solution of EDB PostgreSQL using EFM and Load balancer.

Responsible for all Logical and Physical backup & Recovery even PITR recovery

Connection Pooling tools and Auditing of database.

Regular maintenance of databases (eg. Vacuum, Reindexing, Archiving)

Experience on community-supported tools like Pgbadger, Slony, PGadmin,Pgpool, Pgbouncer

Manage Clusters and upgrading/migrating various PostgreSQL database versions.

Performance tuning

Develop database automation scripts and maintenance.

Provide technical guidance for integration, testing, design, development, planning of new production systems/databases.

Contribute to improving and creating DBA policies, procedures and standards.

Technical skills required:
Strong experience as DBA / PostgreSQL Database Administrator

Experience in monitoring, managing and maintaining mission-critical 24*7 mission critical databases.

Good understanding of PostgreSQL Architecture

Installation/Configuration/Administration PostgreSQL on Linux/Windows machines.

Implementing high-availability solutions

Experience in Installation /configuration of Replication, Connection pooling etc.

Expert in Backup & Recovery including PG dump, setting up WAL archiving.

Experience on PostgreSQL minor/major version upgrade.

Setting up monitoring tools and tune different database metrics to monitor,

Implement database security policies

Server level / OS level / DB level optimization

Working knowledge of operating system internals (Shell scripting, monitoring, debugging) in Linux environments.

Experience in Performance-tuning consultation by working closely with software vendors to tune the database and meet application specific needs

Should work on various PostgreSQL in house utilities

Should be aware on Linux system administration roles / commands

DBA background
