Pharmacy Assistant/ Pharmacy Technician

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant preferably a registered Pharmacy tech to join our healthcare team for a temporary contract. The ideal candidate will have experience of working in pharmacy entering prescriptions and a sound understanding of billing. This role offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience in a clinical setting, contributing to patient care and medication management. Prior hospital or pharmacy technician experience is preferred, along with a strong understanding of medical terminology and medication administration procedures.

Duties

• Assist pharmacists in entering ,preparing and dispensing prescription medications accurately and efficiently
• Manage patient records, update medication profiles, and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information
• Provide excellent patient care by answering questions and offering guidance on over-the-counter products when appropriate
• Maintain inventory levels, restock shelves, and ensure proper storage of medications according to safety standards
• Process insurance claims and handle billing procedures as needed
• Support the pharmacy team with administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and documentation
• Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements related to medication handling and patient privacy
• NOTE: This is a 4 month fixed contract to cover maternity leave. Part-time is required from September 1st. Training and Part time hours available from July 2026.

Skills

• Previous hospital or pharmacy technician experience is highly desirable
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and medication administration processes
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and team members
• Compassionate patient care skills with a focus on accuracy and safety
• Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• High level proficiency for managing electronic health records and pharmacy software systems is a must.

Job Type: Fixed term contract

Pay: $23.00-$30.00 per hour
