Job Description

We are looking to add a pharmacist to our team. We would prefer to hire someone who is willing to stay in Yellowknife for a few years, and will not consider short term help. We require strong communication skills.

This position would be ideal for someone who enjoys nature and who would like to experience Canada's North. We offer a very flexible work schedule that will allow ample time off to travel, fish or otherwise enjoy what you like to do best.

We currently have no expanded scope of services in the NWT. This means we currently do not do minor ailment prescribing, injections, prescription adaptations etc.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Acknowledge all customers approaching the Pharmacy, offer assistance promptly and in a courteous and professional manner
Practice within federal/provincial, regulatory/legal requirements, provincial Code of Ethics, Standards of * Practice, and Policies, demonstrating professional integrity and acting to uphold a high level of professional standard of practice
Ensure all privacy requirements are met.
Provide counselling on prescriptions, over the counter/behind the counter products and all health related issues, including but not limited to indications, contra-indications, adverse effects, drug interactions and dosage
Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions dispensed
Communicate with other health care professionals within the circle of care to provide optimal customer care
Maintain all records required in accordance with legislation, standards of practice, and policy, i.e. customer records, narcotic and controlled drug records
Promote health and wellness and educate customers and as appropriate, engage with customers both in and outside the store
Provide timely and positive resolutions to customer needs and requests from other healthcare providers

Education and professional Licensing: Valid License to practice pharmacy in any province in Canada and Valid License to practice pharmacy in the Northwest Territories.

Experiences, skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to build and develop strong professional relations with clients
  • Experience with NIHB is an asset
  • Experience working with Kroll
  • Independent thinking and decision making - makes decisions when dealing with issues or problems
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Good communication skills are a necessity
