The Role

The contractor will work with leadership, immigration professionals, and the technical team to move the product from prototype concepts to dependable workflows. This role suits someone who can both design the technical approach and build or configure practical solutions. It requires sound judgment about when to use custom code, application programming interfaces, automation platforms, or low-code tools.

  • Develop, test, and refine AI models and systems using cloud platforms such as AWS, integrating APIs and ensuring seamless functionality across mobile applications and web interfaces.

  • Utilize Agile methodologies like Scrum and SAFe frameworks to facilitate iterative development, continuous improvement, and timely delivery of features.
  • Create comprehensive test cases, analyze system performance metrics using analytics tools, and troubleshoot issues to optimize product performance.
  • Maintain clear documentation using tools like Jira, TFS (Team Foundation Server), and Microsoft Office Suite to track progress, bugs, and feature requests.
  • Communicate technical concepts effectively to stakeholders through presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint and detailed reports in Excel.
  • Lead requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders from B2B sales environments or IoT sectors to translate business needs into technical specifications.
  • Support product management initiatives by analyzing market trends, customer feedback, and usage data to inform future development priorities.

Primary Responsibilities

Translate immigration process requirements into clear user journeys, data fields, decision points, and technical specifications.

Build and refine conversational intake experiences that accept typed or voice responses, ask appropriate follow-up questions, and require users to verify names, dates, spelling, and other important facts.

Design workflows that convert confirmed intake information into structured records and draft Immigration Reports using approved content, rules, and review controls.

Develop and evaluate retrieval-augmented generation, prompt workflows, structured outputs, and other suitable AI techniques for a curated Canadian immigration knowledge base.

Connect the user experience to relevant applications and online systems through secure application programming interfaces, webhooks, or approved automation tools.

Create practical evaluation methods for accuracy, source traceability, hallucination risk, incomplete information, and changes to immigration policies or program requirements.

Apply privacy and security requirements appropriate to personal, employment, and immigration information, including access controls, data minimization, retention, and auditability.

Document system architecture, data flows, prompts, rules, integrations, testing results, limitations, and operating procedures so the work can be maintained by others.

Support iterative website and application design, usability testing, defect resolution, and release planning.

Required Qualifications

Demonstrated experience building AI-enabled web applications, workflow tools, or digital products that users can interact with directly.

Practical knowledge of large language models, prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation, structured outputs, model evaluation, and safeguards for unreliable or incomplete responses.

Ability to work with application programming interfaces, webhooks, databases, authentication, and third-party software integrations.

Experience converting complex subject-matter requirements into clear product specifications and functioning workflows.

Understanding of privacy, security, access control, and responsible handling of sensitive personal information.

Ability to prototype quickly while maintaining clear documentation, version control, testing discipline, and maintainable implementation choices.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical decisions to legal and business professionals.
