Job summary
Catch-Up Quick Tutors is looking for a QTS-qualified primary teacher with existing phonics training to teach online phonics to primary-aged children. We assess pupils and place them into groups matched to their phonics phase, from Phase 2 to Phase 5. The tutor won’t carry out the initial assessments or decide group placement.
The role
- Teach each group three 30-minute sessions per week.
- Teach phase-matched groups of up to three pupils. Groups may start with one pupil and grow when we identify other suitable pupils.
- You’ll initially be offered one group. Further groups may become available as enrolments grow and your availability allows; additional hours aren’t guaranteed.
- Use our prepared lesson plans and resources, based on Little Wandle. Little Wandle experience is preferred; experience with other phonics programmes is welcome.
- Mark each session complete in TutorBird and add a brief update to the shared pupil progress tracker. No independent lesson planning, marking or formal reports are required.
- Join our staff WhatsApp group for day-to-day communication.
Hours and pay
- Weekday evenings between 5 and 7 p.m.
- Term time only, with no sessions during Telford and Wrekin half-term breaks. Exact days and times will be agreed as groups are formed.
- £12.50 per completed 30-minute session, equivalent to £25 per hour of teaching time.
- The brief register and tracker update are included in the session payment. Payment is made monthly by bank transfer for sessions completed.
What we provide
Prepared lesson plans and resources, Zoom access, and a TutorBird account for your calendar and session register.
What you’ll need
- QTS, existing phonics training and primary teaching experience.
- A computer with a working camera and microphone, reliable internet, and a suitable teaching space.
Online sessions are recorded for safeguarding and teaching review. We’ll explain the recording arrangements before you start. Any marketing use is separate and requires specific permission.
