Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Mining Engineer (Gold) to support the planning, development, technical assessment, and operational management of gold mining projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating mining opportunities, developing mine plans, assessing mining methods, coordinating technical studies, and ensuring that proposed mining activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable regulatory and environmental requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct technical assessment and feasibility studies for potential gold mining projects.
- Evaluate geological, topographical, mining, and operational information to support project development.
- Develop preliminary and detailed mine plans, mining schedules, and production plans.
- Recommend appropriate mining methods based on deposit characteristics, terrain, depth, orebody geometry, and economic considerations.
- Assist in the assessment of open-pit and/or underground mining options, where applicable.
- Work closely with geologists and exploration teams to evaluate gold deposits, ore bodies, grade distribution, and resource information.
- Review geological and exploration data for mine planning purposes.
- Prepare production estimates, equipment requirements, manpower requirements, and preliminary operating cost assessments.
- Assess mining equipment, machinery, haulage systems, and other operational requirements.
- Monitor mining activities and provide technical recommendations to improve productivity and operational efficiency.
- Assist in preparing mine development plans, technical reports, project proposals, and feasibility studies.
- Coordinate with external mining consultants, geological consultants, surveyors, laboratories, contractors, and other technical specialists.
- Support applications for relevant mining licences, approvals, permits, and regulatory submissions.
- Ensure proposed mining activities comply with applicable Malaysian mining, occupational safety, environmental, and land-use requirements.
- Assist in developing environmental management, rehabilitation, and mine closure plans.
- Monitor site conditions, earthworks, mine infrastructure, drainage, access roads, and other mining-related activities.
- Review contractors' work plans and provide technical supervision where required.
- Prepare regular progress reports, technical assessments, presentations, and recommendations to management.
- Identify technical risks and propose appropriate mitigation measures.
- Support management in evaluating potential gold mining concessions, joint ventures, and investment opportunities.
Minimum Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Mining Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- Relevant professional experience in gold mining, mineral exploration, mine planning, or mining project development.
- Strong understanding of mining engineering principles and mine planning.
- Knowledge of mining operations, mineral processing concepts, mine infrastructure, and production planning.
- Ability to interpret geological and technical information for mining purposes.
- Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good report-writing and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Willingness to travel and conduct site visits and field assessments.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in gold mining projects in Malaysia or Middle East.
- Experience with gold exploration and mine development projects.
- Knowledge of JORC Code / mineral resource and ore reserve reporting principles.
- Experience with mine planning and geological/mining software.
- Experience preparing Pre-Feasibility Studies (PFS) and Feasibility Studies (FS).
- Familiarity with Malaysian mining regulatory and approval processes.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary technical teams and external consultants.
- Professional registration with relevant engineering or professional bodies would be an advantage.

Pay: RM4,000.00 - RM7,338.58 per month
