Prioritizes, performs and reports results of laboratory tests within established time frames and procedures.
Recognizes factors that affect measurements and results and takes appropriate action according to predetermined protocols.
Performs and documents troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, quality control, proficiency testing, calibrations and problem solving activities, to meet regulatory requirements.
Recognizes abnormal results and refers them to the appropriate personnel.
Displays professionalism at all times (i.e. communication with patients, physicians, co-workers, and other departments). Participates in team oriented decision making processes.

Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.
