Specific Accountabilities:

• Plans, organizes and maintains lab and shop facilities
• Uses judgement and knowledge to create plans around class schedules
• Performs maintenance and preventative maintenance of equipment
• Supports professors in various labs during class time to ensure safe practices
• Maintains inventory including ordering supplies to ensure a timely delivery of course materials, equipment parts, gases, supplies, printing material, audio-visual aids
• Incumbent is required to communicate directly with Full-time staff, Faculty members and Supervisor as needed or when consultation is required about problems or difficult situations that occur
• Incumbent is responsible for ensuring lab equipment is in place and functional when it is needed or in response to a report of broken or non-functional equipment

About the Position:

This is a regular part-time support staff Bargaining Unit position reporting to the Dean, School of Applied Science, Engineering Technology and Trades working 24 hours per week at an hourly rate of $45.21

The incumbent applies technical expertise to facilitate the maintenance of instructional equipment in labs.

Incumbent collaborates with faculty in designing, modifying, acquiring, and installing laboratory equipment and procedures and ensures that they are operating in a safe and efficient manner.

Incumbent also monitors and demonstrates skills to students participating in lab activities in conjunction with faculty and acts as a technical resource for faculty and students.

Qualifications:

• Trade Certification (C of Q) as a Welder, Metal Fabricator or Millwright. (Welding C of Q is 3 years, Industrial Millwright C of Q is 4 years)
• Minimum of 3 years of practical experience
