Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant equipment, machinery, and facilities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance, including equipment inspection, mechanical troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, repair, overhaul, and maintenance activities. The role will also support commissioning, equipment troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives to minimize equipment downtime and maintain plant operational efficiency.
The position requires strong technical knowledge, practical mechanical maintenance skills, safety awareness, and the ability to work closely with engineers, planners, operators, contractors, and other maintenance personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on plant equipment, machinery, and mechanical systems.
- Inspect mechanical equipment and identify abnormal conditions, defects, and potential failures.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical faults and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- Carry out repair, replacement, servicing, overhaul, and maintenance activities in accordance with approved procedures.
- Support equipment commissioning, testing, start-up, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.
- Execute maintenance work orders and job packages according to approved schedules and procedures.
- Ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and within the required timeframe.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, maintenance procedures, and job packages.
- Perform basic engineering calculations relevant to mechanical maintenance activities.
- Monitor equipment condition and report defects, abnormalities, and potential reliability issues to the relevant personnel.
- Assist engineers and planners in identifying equipment problems and developing suitable maintenance solutions.
- Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, Planning, contractors, and other site personnel to ensure smooth execution of maintenance activities.
- Record and document completed maintenance activities, findings, repair details, and equipment condition accurately.
- Update maintenance records and work orders through CMMS / SAP PM where required.
- Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives to improve equipment performance and plant availability.
- Ensure proper housekeeping and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and orderly condition.

- Understanding of maintenance planning, work execution, and equipment history records is an advantage.
Troubleshooting \& Problem Solving
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical faults effectively.
- Able to identify root causes of equipment problems and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
- Able to respond effectively to breakdown and emergency maintenance situations.
- Able to identify potential equipment issues and escalate them appropriately.

Documentation \& Reporting
- Prepare accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
- Record maintenance findings, equipment conditions, repair activities, and work completion details.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and update relevant systems.
- Provide timely feedback on equipment defects, maintenance progress, and outstanding issues.
- Support equipment condition monitoring and asset integrity requirements.
Minimum Qualifications \& Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the required industry, particularly Oil \& Gas, Petrochemical, Plant Maintenance, or related industries.
- Possess a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent related qualification.
- Familiar with SAP ECC6 Plant Maintenance (SAP PM) Module.
- Familiar with CMMS and computerized maintenance systems.
- Efficient in report writing and computer applications.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment, and maintenance practices.
- Good troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willing to work at site and support planned, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities.
- Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Pay: RM3,000.00 - RM5,500.00 per month
Work Location: In person
