About the Role
In this underground Mechanical Technician role you will operate and assist with maintenance of the Telfer Hoisting System, dewatering and associated Ore Handling Equipment and to comply with supervisor requests to assist with maintenance and operational requirements on an as needed basis with particular emphasis on company values, safety, environmental and statutory requirements.
Roster: 8/6, FIFO from Perth.
Key responsibilities:
Comply with site safety policies, procedures, and standards
Perform maintenance activities in line with safety and operational requirements
Conduct regular safety inspections and report hazards promptly
Execute preventative maintenance to required standards
Identify equipment faults and raise work requests for corrective action
Contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance strategies
Complete risk assessments (JSEAs) for assigned tasks
Lead small teams on maintenance activities when required
Troubleshoot and diagnose faults across critical Underground Fixed Plant equipment, including:
o Hoisting systems and associated infrastructure
o Underground and surface ore handling conveyors, feeders and chutes
o Underground crushing systems and associated equipment
o Dewatering systems, pumps and reticulation infrastructure
o Surface ventilation fans and underground ventilation equipment
o Surface chiller systems
o Underground vent doors and associated mechanical components
o Fixed plant hydraulic, pneumatic and lubrication systems
Interpret maintenance manuals, drawings, and documentation
About You
You are a reliable and motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic and a commitment to safety. You can work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving skills and technical aptitude. You will also have:
Mechanical trade qualification (with \~3 years’ mining experience preferred)
Basic SAP knowledge
Experience developing JSEAs
Holds a current manual W.A. driver’s license; HR license is advantageous but not required.
Desirable:
Elevating Work Platform (EWP) licence
Overhead Crane Ticket
Telehandler licence
CN (non-slewing mobile crane) license (Franna Ticket)
Forklift licence (LF)
