An opportunity has become available for a fitter to join our growing team.
This is a permanent full-time position with an immediate start available.
Responsibilities:
Examining drawings, work orders and specifications to determine materials, dimensions, tolerances and equipment requirements
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation
Selecting and preparing mechanical components, tools and equipment required for assembly and fitting
Measuring and marking out components to required dimensions and tolerances
Fitting and assembling mechanical components and machinery
Installing bearings, bushes, pins, shafts, couplings, gears and other mechanical components
Installing and connecting hydraulic components, including hydraulic cylinders, hoses, valves and fittings
Aligning and fitting mechanical components to ensure correct operation and tolerances
Using hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment and workshop machinery to complete fitting and assembly work
Dismantling mechanical components and assemblies for inspection, repair or replacement
Inspecting components and completed assemblies for defects, damage, wear and correct fitment
Identifying mechanical faults and determining appropriate repair or replacement requirements
Repairing, replacing and modifying mechanical components and assemblies
Completing mechanical and hydraulic testing of completed attachments and equipment
Checking hydraulic systems for correct operation and identifying leaks or other faults
Adjusting, calibrating and setting mechanical components and systems to manufacturer or engineering specifications
Performing preventative maintenance and servicing of mechanical equipment and components
Assisting with the commissioning and final testing of manufactured earthmoving attachments
Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop and complying with workplace health and safety requirements
Working with welders, fabricators, engineers and production staff to complete manufacturing and assembly requirements
Completing quality-control checks to ensure manufactured products meet required specifications
Assisting with repairs, modifications, warranty work and customer-specific mechanical requirements
Covering medium to heavy fabrication, to be successful you need to have the following;
Certificate I, II or III in Engineering and or relevant experience
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to read drawings, work to a time frame and complete tasks with a high-end finish
Eye for detail and quality
Physically fit for manual work
Be able to read and produce from computer generated drawings
Happy to ask questions if something is not clear, to give and take on feedback.
Hold safety in high regard
Be an autonomous employee
Attendance, punctuality and reliability is a must
Work to a time frame and complete tasks with a high-end finish
Ability to follow instructions and follow through on all tasks
Communicate effectively with supervisors, management and team
Available for long term work commencing immediately (or after notice period)
