Mechanical Engineer (Oil & Gas Parts Assembly)
Job Description

OGSI designs and manufactures high-quality products and metering systems for the Oil, Gas, Petrochemical, and Power Generation industries.

Responsibilities:

· Responsible for the mechanical assembly of the overall package using various disciplines, including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials science, and structural analysis.

· Design, maintain, and improve the complex machinery and infrastructure that underpin refining, calibration, and distribution processes.

· Reading and interpretation of:

o Process drawings (such as P\&IDs, GADs).

o Mechanical design information such as Structural Specifications, skid packages, flowmeters, pumps, compressors, and components that withstand extreme pressures, corrosive environments, and unpredictable mechanical stresses??

o Customer-specific design requirements (such as size limitations, maintenance access, and connection preferences).

· Following detailed conceptual designs and layouts for complex packages in 2D and 3D CAD, for onshore and offshore projects (AutoCAD plant 3 similar).

· Providing innovative engineering solutions to extend the lifespan of these assets and reduce downtime, which is critical given the high costs associated with offshore operations.

· Performing pipe stress analysis using Caesar II software and producing pipe stress reports??

· Resolving technical \& maintenance queries and ensuring that all design changes are captured by the change control process.

· Providing input to project planning for completion within the budget and schedule, ensuring that all design work is carried out in accordance with the schedules \& the project plan.

· Reviewing drawings and vendor documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements.

· Liaising with our Mechanical Design Partners and other disciplines.

· Carrying out customer-facing activities such as Kick-off Meetings, Client Visits, and Client GA Model presentations.

· Overseeing Totec.

· Carry out structural design, structural stress analysis, foundation \& lifting calculations etc.

· Performing Pipe Support Calculations??

· Prepare competitive construction cost estimates for projects, focusing on quantity take-offs, resource estimation, and cost-saving opportunities.

· Manage procurement processes and tendering activities in oil and gas, ensuring compliance and optimal supplier management with strong negotiation and analytical skills.

· Ensure compliance with HSE standards.

· Oversee crane operations and lifting activities, and ensure compliance with safety standards, requiring valid certification and strong communication skills.

· Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to ensure machinery operates efficiently and safely.

· Implement sensor systems that continuously track vibration, temperature, pressure, and other parameters indicative of equipment health.

· Develop safety systems that mitigate risks in the event of malfunctions, and set up pressure relief valves, emergency shutdown systems, and fire suppression equipment.

· Conduct regular inspections, including site inspections, using nondestructive testing (NDT) methods such as ultrasonic testing and radiography, which allow engineers to detect internal flaws before they lead to failure. This proactive approach reduces downtime and enhances safety.

Knowledge \& Experience needed:
· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

· Certified CAD designer \& assembler (API or similar).

· 7 to 10 years of UAE experience in Mechanical Engineering, specifically in Oil \& Gas Fields Equipment
