Job Description
Canada U-Tutoring Learning Institute is a non-profit organization committed to providing accessible, inclusive, and high-quality educational support at an affordable rate. We are currently seeking an experienced Mandarin-speaking Math and Science Tutor to join our team.
This position mainly focuses on one-on-one online tutoring for Grade 11–12 students, covering high school Math and Science, including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Most lessons will be taught in Mandarin, so fluency in Mandarin is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Mandarin Fluency: Must be fluent in Mandarin, as most lessons will be conducted in Mandarin.
- Teaching Experience: Previous classroom teaching experience is required. Candidates with experience teaching high school science courses are strongly preferred.
- Subject Knowledge: Strong understanding of Grade 11–12 Math and Science, including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
- Ontario Curriculum Knowledge: Must be familiar with the Ontario high school Math and Science curriculum.
- Textbook Familiarity: Must be familiar with commonly used Ontario high school textbooks and course materials.
- Curriculum Development: Ability to develop personalized lesson plans, teaching materials, slides, and practice questions based on each student’s needs.
- Experience with High School Students: Proven experience working with high school students, especially Grade 11–12 students.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex Math and Science concepts clearly and effectively.
- Adaptability: Ability to adjust teaching methods based on each student’s learning style, school progress, and academic goals.
- Patience and Responsibility: Ability to motivate students, provide structured guidance, and create a supportive online learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one online tutoring sessions for Grade 11–12 students in Math and Science, including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
- Teach mainly in Mandarin and explain course concepts clearly based on the Ontario curriculum.
- Develop and implement personalized lesson plans according to each student’s academic level, school progress, and learning goals.
- Help students strengthen their understanding of key concepts, improve problem-solving skills, and prepare for school tests, assignments, exams, and university-level preparation.
- Create teaching materials, practice questions, quizzes, and review notes when needed.
- Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to both the Institute and parents.
- Support students in building a strong academic foundation and improving their confidence in Math and Science.
- Maintain a positive, professional, and engaging online learning environment.
