Manage Player \& Agent Communications and assist with player and agent communications-related objectives and strategic planning. Provide year-round media and communications support to PGA TOUR players and agents, including media requests, brand-building strategies, player messaging and crisis comms. Work closely with Publicity, Player Relations, Player Partnerships and other internal teams to manage and strategize player engagement in media and content opportunities.QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field is required; an advanced degree is a plus and may be considered favorably.
- 5+ years of experience in communications, public relations, or media relations, with a strong preference for experience in golf tournament communications, sports event management and athlete relations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiar with digital publishing tools, content management systems, and social media platforms.
- Strong organizational, time management and multitasking skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including advanced proficiency in writing, editing, content creation, idea pitching, and public speaking. Ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences and platforms.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively across departments and stakeholder groups, fostering alignment and collaboration in a matrixed organizational environment.
- Expected to respond to inquiries from players, agents and media members as soon as receiving, including evenings and weekends.
- Maintains a polished professional image and demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to safely operate utility vehicles such as golf carts, utility carts, and shuttle carts, particularly in support of on-site tournament operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
- Build and maintain relationships with agents and players to provide year-round media and communications support, understanding player schedules, preferences and overall brand objectives.
- Serve as a resource to agents and players to recommend media opportunities designed to build player profiles/brands; provide players and agents with PR or crisis communications support as needed.
- Work closely with Publicity team to strategically execute inbound media requests and identify new outlets and placements to support player storytelling or brand objectives; play a contributing role in weekly Player Pitch meeting.
- Oversee Player Opportunities and Scheduling and work closely with PGA TOUR media officials to manage player requests from internal and external stakeholders, prioritizing asks and determining strategy.
- Serve as player booking point of contact for internal teams (content, broadcast, media) and external partners (e.g. Golf Channel, Sirius XM, CBS/NBC); lead quarterly carwash and content captures.
- Serve as project manager for “PGA TOUR Media Day,” a new concept that aligns with the future schedule, providing access to TOUR media partners to capture promotional assets (i.e. headshots, poses, interviews, etc.).
- Facilitate New Member Orientation, support Agent Certification and represent Communications Team in first-time winner meetings.
- Represent Communications Team in weekly Player Partnership meetings, supporting player sponsorship opportunities through content and earned media; Oversee communications reporting on all Player Partnerships player collateral (i.e. scorecards, winner’s reports, etc.).
- Track player requests (executed and declined) and consistently update player CRM providing ad hoc and year-end reports; Determine strategy for trending player or outlet declines.
- Manage Fan Focus Index efforts, including identifying opportunities for moving players throughout quadrants i.e. “Next Up” and “Rising Stars” players (increase popularity through measurable fan engagement metrics).
- Support PGA TOUR Content efforts by developing ideas and garnering buy-in from players; Oversee player involvement, including on-site execution.
- Create and maintain Notable Quotes document to assist Communications Team and Player Relations department.
- Share content/messaging wins including detailed platform KPIs with media partners and agents.
