About the Role

We are looking for an experienced maintenance technician to operate and maintain mechanical systems and HVAC services at Tauranga Hospital. This is a permanent full-time opportunity.

Salary will be based on skills and experience and will fall within Steps 37 of the Group 2 pay scale. Additional allowances apply for formal on-call duties and overtime. This role is covered by the Etū collective agreement. For further information, please click here.

You will be responsible for:

  • Operating, Maintaining and repairing ventilation and air conditioning systems and equipment
  • Undertaking basic plumbing maintenance duties.
  • Understand what plumbing duties can or cannot be undertaken by non-qualified tradesmen.
  • Act as lead technician managing under sink drinking water units
  • Highly technical management of infrastructure systems and ancillary equipment
  • Identifying maintenance risks on equipment
  • Providing 24-hour call out response when on call About the Team/Service/ Location

Reporting to the Site Engineer Building Services, you will be an integral member of the Facilities and Business Operations Team.

About you

Mandatory Requirement: Applicants must hold recognised boiler and medical gas qualifications or be willing and able to obtain these within 12 months of appointment.

Skills and experience:

  • NZ Trade Certificate of similar from a mechanical trade
  • Plant and equipment operation and maintenance experience including boilers, compressors, pumps, medical gas pipeline systems, and building management systems
  • Current drivers licence
  • Accurate record keeping
  • Intermediate level computer literacy Working at Health New Zealand
