Position Summary
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring the movement of freight to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective transportation of products. This role acts as the primary link between customers, drivers, dispatch, warehouse personnel, transload operators, rail providers, and third-party carriers to ensure all shipments are delivered on time and according to customer requirements.
The Logistics Coordinator plays a critical role in maintaining customer satisfaction, maximizing equipment utilization, and ensuring compliance with all company, transportation, and safety regulations.
Key ResponsibilitiesTransportation Coordination
- Schedule and coordinate inbound and outbound shipments.
- Assign loads to company drivers and third-party carriers.
- Monitor daily transportation activities and adjust schedules as required.
- Ensure freight is delivered on time and in accordance with customer requirements.
- Coordinate railcar, truck, container, and warehouse movements.
- Communicate loading and unloading schedules with terminal operations.
Customer Service
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned customers.
- Provide shipment updates and delivery status reports.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries and resolve transportation issues.
- Maintain strong customer relationships through professional communication.
Dispatch \& Fleet Support
- Monitor driver availability, Hours of Service, and equipment utilization.
- Coordinate trailer spotting, preloading, and equipment positioning.
- Assist with scheduling maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime.
- Work closely with drivers to resolve route, loading, or delivery issues.
Documentation \& Compliance
- Prepare and review Bills of Lading, manifests, shipping documents, and delivery records.
- Verify shipment information for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain transportation records and filing systems.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, transportation regulations, and customer requirements.
Inventory \& Operations Coordination
- Coordinate inventory movements between railcars, warehouses, silos, and trucks.
- Track product receipts, shipments, and storage requirements.
- Work with operations personnel to ensure products are available for scheduled shipments.
- Assist with inventory reconciliation and reporting.
Problem Solving
- Identify transportation bottlenecks and implement solutions.
- Resolve shipment delays, equipment shortages, and scheduling conflicts.
- Escalate major issues to management when necessary.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the logistics department.
QualificationsEducation
- Diploma or degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent industry experience may be considered.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of logistics, transportation, dispatch, or supply chain experience preferred.
- Experience in trucking, rail transloading, warehousing, or bulk commodity handling considered an asset.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $41,212.00-$65,000.00 per year
