Legal Counsel – Corporate & Commercial [EL]

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced in-house lawyer to join the Corporate Legal team and provide broad-based legal support to the Company and its various business groups across multiple jurisdictions.

The role will provide exposure to a diverse range of corporate, commercial, contractual and compliance matters, working closely with business stakeholders and legal colleagues across the Group.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide practical and commercially focused legal advice on matters arising across the Company and its business groups in multiple jurisdictions.
• Advise and counsel key stakeholders on legal, regulatory, contractual and corporate matters.
• Provide advice on general corporate law matters, including corporate governance and corporate secretarial requirements and procedures.
• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of corporate and commercial agreements with third parties and across the Group.
• Support cross-functional and cross-border projects requiring legal input.
• Provide legal support to business groups on strategic projects and business initiatives.
• Advise stakeholders on the interpretation and application of the Company's policies, procedures and governance requirements.
• Provide timely and practical legal advice to business units and business groups, balancing legal risk with commercial objectives.
• Support compliance initiatives, including the development, review and implementation of local compliance protocols.
• Prepare and deliver training and updates on key legal, regulatory, compliance and policy matters.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of processes to identify and mitigate legal risks while improving efficiency and consistency in contracting.
• Instruct, supervise and manage external legal counsel, including monitoring external legal expenditure.
• Research and analyse relevant laws, regulations, legislation, court decisions and other legal developments affecting the Group's businesses.
• Support the Corporate Legal Department on Group-wide projects, initiatives and other matters as required.

Skills \& Experience

• At least 10–12 years of post-qualification legal experience, with experience gained across both private practice and in-house environments.
• Previous experience in an MNC or highly complex organisation would be advantageous.
• Proven experience managing a broad range of corporate and commercial legal matters and supporting business initiatives.
• Strong commercial judgment, with the ability to balance legal risk with business priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively between strategic considerations and operational legal matters.
• Ability to quickly understand and adapt to different businesses, operating models and commercial environments.
• Comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively as part of a global legal team.
• Strong analytical, diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence engaging and advising senior stakeholders.
• Demonstrates sound judgment, personal accountability and the ability to take ownership of matters from start to finish.
