The Opportunity \| Te Whiwhinga mahi

We have a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) opportunity for a Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer to make significant impact and develop their career in teaching, research, and service.

We are open to expertise across areas relevant to our School and are particularly interested in applicants who can contribute to our teaching and research in Initial Teacher Education (Primary). Professional knowledge of the Social Sciences, Science, or Technology learning areas within the New Zealand Curriculum is an advantage. Current teacher registration with the New Zealand Teaching Council is a requirement as the successful applicant will be expected to visit and assess student teachers on practicum.

We embrace practice-led, research-informed approaches to teaching. Your contributions to programme and course development will support our continuous improvement focus. You will teach across programmes as assigned by the Head of School and be comfortable using digital resources to enhance learning. You will publish actively in your specialised field/s. We offer an excellent research environment with contestable research funds, and with guidance available from senior scholars. It is also expected that over time the successful candidate will seek and attract external research funding, engage with government, business, professional bodies, and the community, and contribute to School/Faculty activities.

Criteria

  • Qualification:

    • A doctoral qualification in Education.
    • A teaching qualification.
    • Teacher Registration with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand

2. Teaching:

  • An early career academic will ideally have at least some previous experience as a teaching assistant.
  • More experienced candidates will have previous lecturing experience, evidence of curriculum development and preferably experience supervising Masters and/or PhD.
  • Professional knowledge of the Social Sciences, Science, or Technology learning areas within the New Zealand Curriculum.

3. Reasearch:

  • More experienced candidates will already have a more established research programme and a proven research track record with quality publications and ideally also success in external funding bids.
