About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Leading Hand Electrical \& Instrumentation Technician (HV Switching) to join our Fixed Plant Maintenance team at the Willowdale site, located just south of Waroona in WA’s Peel region.

Reporting to the Electrical \& Instrumentation Supervisor you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of electrical targets and maintaining the highest safety standards. You will ensure all activities align with the current business plan while providing leadership and direction to optimise crew performance and achieve site and departmental objectives.

As a Leading Hand, you will:

• Lead and support the Electrical \& Instrumentation team in daily maintenance activities
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, procedures, and HV switching requirements
• Coordinate and prioritise work to meet operational targets
• Provide feedback and guidance to improve team performance and efficiency
• Work collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve site outcomes

• A 12-hour day only roster rotating every 3 weeks (Week 1 Mon/Tue Week 2 Tue, Fri, Sat and Sun Week 3 Tue, Wed and Fri
• An average 36-hour work week

To succeed, you’ll need flexibility to work every third weekend and public holidays if scheduled on.

What you can bring to the role

• A grade electrical licence
• Electrical Instrumentation qualification
• HV Switching ticket
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the industry, ideally with mining exposure.
• Valid WA C-Class drivers' licence.
• Schedule 26 - Statutory Supervisor accreditation required.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a leadership position or have worked in a similar operation or industry to Alcoa.

Willowdale is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia, and is located in the Darling Scarp east of Waroona and Cookernup. It supplies bauxite ore to the Wagerup Alumina Refinery via a direct overland conveying system and helps to produce almost half of Australia’s alumina and approximately 19 per cent of Australia’s aluminium.
