The Lead Copywriter and Content Manager is the primary point of contact for content in the organization and is responsible for overseeing content strategy, developing compelling brand messaging, and driving engagement across various channels. They lead content development for marketing campaigns, websites, blogs, social media, email and other digital and print assets. They guide a team of English copywriters and French translators to ensure that all content aligns with Air Canada Vacations’ brand voice and company values, as well as creating and proofreading marketing, editorial and UX copy for all Air Canada Vacations touchpoints, while balancing technical and creative copywriting.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Be accountable for the team’s projects, priorities and deadlines, maintain ongoing relationships with internal stakeholders; serve as go-to person for all questions and tasks related to copy and translation
  • Represent content in large-scale projects as a key stakeholder and provide guidance on copy best practices
  • Proactively assess content efficiency and initiate improvements to processes by engaging relevant stakeholders
  • Collaborate with the Air Canada legal team to maintain terms \& conditions templates and ensure legal compliance of all content
  • Monitor content performance through analytics and refine strategies based on insights
  • Lead content strategy through collaboration with various teams (Marketing, Social Media, Ecommerce, Sales, Product, etc.) to refine Air Canada Vacations’ brand tone and voice
  • Build and maintain an editorial content calendar; coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging across channels
  • Develop and maintain copy style guides for all touchpoints, including digital or printed brochures, marketing and web, in accordance with national and provincial advertising compliance standards, as well as the Canadian Press Style Guide and UX/web best practices; be accountable for the quality of English and French content provided to all departments
  • Collaborate with Creative and Marketing teams on the concept creation of brand and promotional campaigns to develop persuasive copy, taglines, and CTA messaging to drive conversions
  • Lead the evolution of the Air Canada Vacations brand through new creative and interactive content, including blogs, emails, landing pages, social media posts and more; update and modernize our language based on common usage and cultural sensitivity
  • Lead brainstorms and generate content ideas and conduct detailed research on destinations and hotels to ensure all content is accurate, inspirational and informational through all steps of the customer journey
  • Collaborate with Customer Growth and Web Merchandising teams to implement best practices for SEO, keyword research, and content optimization.
  • Collaborate with UX and UI designers and be responsible for the content strategy for UX copy and UI wireframes; ensure web content aligns with user behaviour and improves the user experience online and update existing online content accordingly
  • Collaborate with the Product and Web Merchandising teams to maintain the review and translation of all products
  • Create, review and fact check all internally produced and third-party English content to ensure content governance
  • Develop and coach in-house copywriters and translators and manage team priorities to ensure all copy and translation needs are met across the company; provide guidance to enhance content quality
  • Support the delivery of time-sensitive communications, outside of regular business hours, as required
  • Regularly benchmark language used by competitors and support terminology used internally
  • Keep up to date with digital marketing, UX writing, SEO and travel industry trends
  • Support other copy and translation initiatives, as required

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

  • Undergraduate degree in Creative Writing, English, Communications, Journalism or equivalent
  • Must have minimum 5 years managing a team of copywriters and translators
  • 8-10 years of copywriting and content management experience, including UX and conversion copywriting experience; experience in an eCommerce environment preferred
  • Excellent communication and proofreading skills
  • Experience developing marketing concept
  • Ability to balance technical and creative writing
  • Possesses superior attention to detail
  • Autonomous, able to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Strong team player, with experience managing a team
  • Excellent grammar and spelling skills; knowledge of CP Style rules, a must
  • Advertising agency experience an asset
  • Travel industry experience an asset
