About BritPulse

BritPulse is building the UK’s first verified faba bean ingredient supply chain — replacing imported soya with home-grown alternatives for UK livestock feed. We’re a small, purpose-driven team doing pioneering work, and our analytical capability is central to everything we do.

The Role

We’re looking for a Laboratory Analyst to run our analytical function at the Flixborough plant. You’ll own our NIR calibration programme, manage all sample control and storage, and take the lead on FEMAS sampling and compliance. You’ll also support our R\&D team on trial work with research partners. This is a hands-on, independent role — you’ll be the person who keeps our data trustworthy and our lab audit-ready.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Building and maintaining NIRS calibrations for our faba bean ingredient range
• Running in-process and finished product release testing
• Owning sample reception, registration, chain of custody and retention
• Managing FEMAS sampling, compliance records and audit preparation
• Supporting analytical work on R\&D trials and new product development
• Producing data for batch certification, customer technical packs and trial reports

What We’re Looking For — Essential

• HND or BSc in analytical chemistry, food science, animal nutrition or similar
• 3+ years’ experience in a feed, food or agricultural analytical environment
• Hands-on NIRS experience (routine operation and calibration maintenance)
• Knowledge of proximate analysis (Kjeldahl/Dumas, ADF, NDF, oil, ash, moisture)
• Working knowledge of FEMAS or equivalent feed assurance sampling protocols
• Strong sample handling and record-keeping discipline

Desirable

• NIR calibration development experience (FOSS, Bruker, Perten or Unity systems)
• Chemometrics knowledge (PLS regression, R², SEC, SEP, RPD)
• Internal auditor experience (FEMAS, UFAS or ISO 17025)
• Pulse or oilseed processing background
