We are looking for a Key Account Manager General Industrial (m/f/d) to drive profitable growth with key industrial customers in the DACH market.

The position is located in Bochum and reports directly to the Market Manager.

The Key Account Manager is responsible for developing and executing customer growth strategies within the General Industrial segment, with a strong focus on strategic key accounts, long-term partnerships, and cross-functional collaboration across EMEA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive customer win and retention rates by identifying growth opportunities and translating them into structured customer development plans.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key customers at all organizational levels, including decision-makers and influencers.
  • Plan and lead impactful customer visits, strategy meetings, and business reviews in Germany.
  • Own and actively manage the opportunity pipeline using Salesforce, ensuring disciplined follow-up on key projects and opportunities.
  • Ensure full coverage and structured management of assigned key accounts.
  • Ensure achievement of monthly and annual sales, margin, and growth targets.
  • Actively identify value-enhancing opportunities and support pricing and portfolio strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Act as a central coordination point between Sales, Technical Service, Marketing, Supply Chain, and other internal functions across EMEA.
  • Execute the General Industrial segment strategy based on a deep understanding of customer needs, industry trends, and competitive dynamics.
  • Continuously assess the General Industrial customer landscape in Germany, including market opportunities, competitive positioning, and PPG’s footprint.
  • Monitor industry and competitor developments, including products, go-to-market approaches, and value propositions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sales, key account management, marketing, or strategy within the coatings or chemicals environment.
  • Proven ability to manage and grow strategic customer relationships in a complex, matrix organization.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify, develop, and execute new business opportunities.
  • Experience working with CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce) and managing structured opportunity pipelines.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather, synthesize, and translate market intelligence into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex topics and recommendations.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically within the DACH region.
  • Fluency in German and English (written and spoken) is mandatory.
