Junior Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and proactive Junior Accountant to join our finance team for our upcoming hypermarket. The successful candidate will support daily accounting operations, monitor sales and cash transactions, reconcile POS sales, process supplier invoices, and maintain accurate financial records.

The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of accounting principles, strong Excel skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment. Experience in supermarkets, hypermarkets, or retail accounting will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Record and maintain daily financial transactions accurately and on time.
• Reconcile daily sales reports from POS systems with cash, card payments, and other payment methods.
• Verify cash collections, cashier reports, and payment settlements.
• Prepare and maintain sales, cash, and bank reconciliation statements.
• Process supplier invoices, purchase invoices, credit notes, and payment vouchers.
• Assist in managing accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Verify purchase orders, goods received notes (GRNs), and supplier invoices.
• Monitor supplier balances, outstanding payments, and payment due dates.
• Assist with inventory accounting by reconciling stock records, purchase transactions, stock adjustments, and physical stock counts.
• Record expenses, petty cash transactions, and other operational costs.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure proper filing of invoices and supporting documents.
• Assist with monthly closing, financial reporting, and preparation of management reports.
• Support VAT-related documentation and other applicable tax or regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with purchasing, warehouse, store operations, and cashiers to resolve discrepancies.
• Perform other accounting duties as required by the Finance Manager.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience preferred.
• Experience in a supermarket, hypermarket, retail business, or FMCG environment is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of accounting principles, bookkeeping, and financial reconciliation.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and MS Office.
• Experience with POS systems and accounting or ERP software is an advantage.
• Knowledge of inventory control and supplier account reconciliation.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and integrity when handling financial information.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Good communication skills and the ability to coordinate with different departments.
