Position Description:
The Custom Applications Business Analyst at Applied Medical plays a critical role in bridging business needs and technical solutions within Applied Medical's custom software development environment. This role focuses on internal applications built to support business operations, working closely with development and design teams to ensure custom solutions meet organizational goals. This position contributes to the full software development lifecycle by gathering, analyzing, and documenting requirements, facilitating communication between stakeholders and development teams, and validating that delivered solutions meet business objectives. The Business Analyst partners closely with project managers to coordinate requirement delivery against project timelines, supporting each other through scope management, risk identification, and stakeholder alignment. The Business Analyst also collaborates with developers, designers, and quality analysts to translate business processes into clear, actionable requirements. Position Requirements: This position requires the following skills and attributes:* Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent professional experience. * Two to ten years of experience in business analysis, requirements management, or a related role, depending on level. * Experience working within Agile development teams and participating in the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). * Demonstrated experience supporting or collaborating with project managers on custom application or software development initiatives. * Proficiency in requirements elicitation, user story writing, and acceptance criteria definition. * Experience with business process modeling using BPMN notation and documentation. * Familiarity with Kanban boards or similar work tracking tools for backlog management (Applied Medical uses Azure DevOps). * Proficiency in data analysis using Excel, with working knowledge of Power BI. * Experience with business process modeling tools such as Microsoft Visio. * Solid understanding of software development processes and how requirements support technical delivery. * Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail. * Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to facilitate workshops and present to stakeholders. * Collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams including developers, designers, quality analysts, and project managers. * Ability to translate between business language and technical language. * Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred: The following skills and attributes are preferred:* Agile or Scrum certification (Certified ScrumMaster, SAFe Agilist, or equivalent). * Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or similar business analysis certification. * Experience with process improvement methodologies and workshop facilitation. * Familiarity with data mapping, system integration concepts, and cross-system requirements. * Experience working in a medical device, healthcare, or regulated industry environment. * Experience mentoring or coaching junior team members on requirements practices.
