Position: Irrigation Specialist
Role Duties:
- Delegate and monitor tasks performed by irrigation crew members, taking corrective steps where needed to ensure work quality and on-time project delivery.
- Develop work rosters, equipment schedules, and maintenance procedures for machinery and tools.
- Keep track of cost records, including labour and materials, and prepare estimates for irrigation design work and repair jobs.
- Produce and update landscape drawings, either by hand or using computer-aided design software.
- Monitor and log water consumption to optimize efficiency, and assess, approve, or amend contract specifications as needed.
- Liaise with electricians and relevant internal teams or external contractors on the design, setup, and servicing of automated underground sprinkler systems.
- Evaluate, source, and apply drip and sprinkler components suited to specific site conditions.
- Determine selection criteria and handle procurement of irrigation pumps.
- Develop drip and sprinkler system layouts according to on-site discharge and head pressure needs.
- Diagnose and resolve issues with irrigation pump systems, engaging appropriate contractors as required.
- Oversee planning and implementation of electrical and irrigation pipe routing for high-rise developments.
Candidate Profile:
- Degree or Diploma in Landscape Irrigation, Agricultural Engineering, or related field.
- 3–5 years' hands-on experience in sprinkler system inspection, installation, and repair.
- Familiarity with control panels for pumps and irrigation systems.
- Understanding of solenoid valve setup and irrigation controller installation.
- Working knowledge of fertigators and sand filters.
- Strong numerical skills for calculating pipe flow rates, gallonage, pipe sizing, friction loss, run times, system efficiency, spacing, and head selection.
- Capable of interpreting blueprints/technical drawings.
- Good interpersonal and communication abilities.
