Security Intelligence is a functional group of the High-Risk Targeting Team (within the National Intelligence Centre). Security Intelligence comprises specialist capability in the areas of National Security, domestic extremism and acutely disaffected persons. Security Intelligence is integrated and works closely with the National Security Group, Police Districts and the cross-government National Security system.

We are looking for someone who demonstrates good analytical processes such as the use of terms of reference, collections plans, analytical tools, and stakeholder engagement. Strong written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work in a fast-evolving environment are important.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Undertake analysis and produce intelligence products to address identified priorities.
  • Proactively identify emerging or escalating trends.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and apply analytical techniques to interpret information and data.
  • Demonstrate written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop a high standard of written reports/presentations and provide clear and concise verbal briefings appropriate to a range of audiences.
  • Lead and collaborate on projects and group analysis.
  • Effectively manage competing priorities and demands to maintain quality of work under strict timeframes.
  • Demonstrate resilience and adaptability, with the ability to work in a high-pressure, fast evolving environment.
  • Develop and maintain a wide range of positive relationships (internal and external).
  • Lead by example with a committed, positive attitude towards teamwork and professional development.
  • Champion diverse worldviews, different perspectives, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, identifying opportunities to reflect these in Intelligence products.

Security Clearance Requirements

To be eligible for this role, you must obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET national security clearance.

The minimum criteria for this level of national security clearance is:

NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or:

  • A Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or
  • A citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS.

Utu a-tau \| Salary

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence at $88,179.00 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
