About us
At Optimax Energy, we have been developing smart solutions for automated trading systems for over 10 years and are driving the transition to green energy. This makes us a leader in international power trading.
Our culturally diverse team shares a common vision and fosters a culture of appreciation and equal opportunity. We believe that we can achieve extraordinary things when we are free to grow and develop. We embrace diversity, equality, and inclusion. Different perspectives and backgrounds strengthen our team and lead to creative solutions.
Supporting education in schools and universities is a top priority for Optimax. With this in mind, we are seeking a dedicated teacher in the field of computer science.
What This Is About
In Leipzig, many schools lack the resources to provide high-achieving students with individualized, in-depth support in computer science—especially when it comes to preparing for computer science competitions or Olympiads. Optimax aims to support students in this area.
Your responsibilities
You support highly gifted and motivated students from grade 5 up to high school in computer science. Your focus will be on guiding small groups (by age group), preparing them for competitions (e.g. Federal Computer Science Competition, Informatics Olympiad), and providing long-term mentoring. You will work independently, while being strongly supported by Optimax and in close cooperation with schools and the Department of Computer Science at HTWK Leipzig.
- Planning, conducting, and further developing an enrichment program for talented students in computer science (every two weeks, 90 minutes per group)
- Preparing and mentoring students for computer science competitions
- Collaborating with schools and teachers
- Building a long-term support structure in the Halle/Leipzig region
- Optionally: organizing holiday activities, hackdays, etc.

Must-Haves
- Excellent German skills (minimum C1, spoken and written)
- Advanced or completed studies in Computer Science or Computer Science Education (Master’s level or equivalent qualification) with very good grades
- Teaching or mentoring experience with young people, e.g. through tutoring, study groups, tutorials, youth education, etc.
- Solid knowledge of computer science fundamentals, particularly algorithms, data structures, programming logic, and languages
- Ability to convey knowledge in a structured and motivating way
- Independent, reliable, and well-organized work style
- Enthusiasm for working with young people, motivation, and patience
- Willingness to provide an extended background check
- Curiosity, commitment to continuous learning, and a passion for working on projects together
Nice-to-Haves
- Personal experience participating in computer science competitions (e.g. Federal Computer Science Competition, IOI, Jugend forscht, student academies)
- Experience in gifted education or working with high-performing students
- In-depth knowledge of competition-relevant topics (e.g. recursion, graph theory, dynamic programming)
- Didactic training (e.g. in teacher education, tutor training, or educational workshops)
What we offer
In general:
