Job Summary
We are seeking highly skilled interpreters to support in-person Workers’ Compensation hearings. This role requires strong proficiency in legal and court-related terminology, along with the ability to provide precise, unbiased interpretation in formal proceedings. Interpreters will play a critical role in ensuring clear communication between all parties while upholding strict confidentiality and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Interpretation:
Provide accurate, complete, and impartial interpretation during Workers’ Compensation hearings, depositions, and related legal proceedings
Interpret in real-time while preserving tone, intent, and legal context
Ensure all parties fully understand statements, questions, and responses without omission or alteration
Courtroom \& Hearing Protocol:
Demonstrate familiarity with legal procedures, hearing etiquette, and Workers’ Compensation processes
Maintain professionalism at all times in formal legal environments
Follow instructions from judges, attorneys, and hearing officials as required
Terminology \& Accuracy:
Apply strong knowledge of legal and Workers’ Compensation terminology
Clarify ambiguities when necessary while maintaining neutrality and accuracy
Avoid summarization—interpret verbatim whenever required
Cultural Competence \& Ethics:
Maintain strict confidentiality and impartiality in all assignments
Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity when facilitating communication
Adhere to interpreter codes of ethics and professional conduct
Availability \& Reliability:
Attend scheduled in-person hearings promptly and prepared
Maintain consistent communication with scheduling teams and coordinators
Be flexible to support urgent or time-sensitive assignments when needed
Documentation \& Reporting:
Accurately document assignments, including dates, locations, and any relevant notes
Report any issues, conflicts, or concerns encountered during proceedings
Qualifications
Education \& Experience:
Fluency in English and at least one additional language
Proven experience in legal, court, or Workers’ Compensation interpretation
Interpreter certification (preferred) or relevant professional training
Skills:
Strong command of legal terminology and formal language usage
Excellent listening, memory retention, and verbal communication skills
Ability to perform under pressure in high-stakes environments
High level of professionalism, neutrality, and attention to detail
Working Conditions
Work is conducted on-site at courts, hearing offices, and legal facilities
Must adhere to all site-specific protocols, confidentiality requirements, and professional standards
