Job Description

About the Role

The Human Resources Assistant supports the effective operation of the Human Resources function through the delivery of high-quality administrative, operational and stakeholder support services across the employee lifecycle.

Working collaboratively within the Human Resources team, the role contributes to the delivery of responsive, professional and strategically aligned HR services that support Canberra Grammar School’s commitment to excellence, professionalism, safeguarding and continuous improvement.

The role provides operational assistance across recruitment, onboarding, employment administration, HR systems, reporting, compliance and employee support activities. The position requires strong organisational capability, discretion, attention to detail and a commitment to service excellence.

This role is well suited to an early-career HR professional or an experienced administrator seeking a flexible and collaborative school environment.

About You

You are dedicated, passionate and possess the following:

  • Strong administrative and organisational capability
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining documentation and data management systems
  • Basic knowledge of Australian employment law
  • Excellent skills in using the Microsoft Office suite of programs; previous experience using Synergetic will be highly regarded
  • Capacity to consistently demonstrate a high level of initiative and willingness to take direction
  • Professional judgement and ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
  • A highly organised approach to work and the ability to multitask, whilst working calmly and effectively under pressure
  • A great team player with a good sense of humour

  • Appropriate qualifications
  • A valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People Card
  • A current National Police Check; and
  • Full working rights within Australia.
