We are looking for a Housing \& Property Management Apprentice to join Ocean Housing. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain practical experience across several areas of our organisation while working towards a recognised Level 3 qualification in Housing \& Property Management.

You will support our Customer Experience, Neighbourhood Services and Property Services teams, helping us to provide an excellent service to our tenants and customers. Along the way, you will develop valuable skills, build your confidence and gain a broad understanding of how housing services operate.

What you will be doing:

Throughout your apprenticeship, you will spend time across different teams, giving you a varied and engaging introduction to housing and property management.

Neighbourhood Services

You will learn about key stages of the housing journey, including tenancy management, income collection, leasehold and property management, lettings and allocations. Your experience may include:

  • Supporting the voids and lettings process, from tenancy terminations and property adverts to viewings and tenancy agreements
  • Accompanying colleagues on block and estate inspections
  • Helping to identify and report health, safety and environmental concerns
  • Assisting with service charge budgets
  • Supporting appropriate tenancy, lease or licence enforcement activity
  • Liaising with agents and other third parties
  • Helping customers with basic rent and service charge enquiries
  • Developing your understanding of welfare benefits in relation to housing

Customer Experience

You will help our Customer Experience Advisors provide a responsive and helpful service by:

  • Responding to incoming customer communications
  • Logging repairs and arranging appointments
  • Placing repair orders
  • Taking rent payments when appropriate
  • Collecting and processing customer information
  • Updating housing management systems accurately
  • Supporting facilities management activities at Stennack House
  • Assisting with First Response enquiries and other team projects

Property Services

You will also gain experience of property services administration, including:

  • Raising purchase orders and repair requests
  • Speaking with tenants by telephone
  • Booking appointments and arranging telephone surveys
  • Drafting and sending letters to tenants

Your apprenticeship studies

Alongside your practical experience, you will attend tutorials and coaching sessions delivered by our training provider. You will be expected to engage fully with your studies and work towards successfully completing the academic requirements of your apprenticeship.

What we are looking for:

You do not need extensive previous experience. We are looking for someone with the right attitude, a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in helping customers.

You will need:

  • Level 2 Key Skills in literacy and numeracy, or an equivalent qualification
  • An understanding of health and safety and the duty of care you have towards yourself and others
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Confidence using IT systems
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Clear, confident and polite communication skills
  • Patience, diplomacy and a cheerful, helpful approach to customers
  • Reliability, punctuality and enthusiasm
  • The ability to manage changing workloads and follow agreed procedures
  • A commitment to learning, training and personal development
  • A willingness to support colleagues and take part in new initiatives
  • The ability to work productively in an office or from home, where applicable
