Job Title: HGV Mechanic

Reporting to: Fleet Manager

Job Purpose: To maximise fleet availability through pro-active and reactive responses to ensure the customer service schedule is delivered to the highest possible level of efficiency.

Job Summary

Responsibilities:

• Conduct PMIs on vehicles as required and record same in software system.
• Carrying out routine maintenance as scheduled
• Prepare vehicles for DOE, NCT, tachograph calibration as required.
• Maintain truck bodies and ancillary equipment in optimum working order.
• Carry out repairs to vehicles that are ‘off road’ in a timely manner.
• Support transport department in fixing unforeseen mechanical fault through on road breakdown service.
• Record all work to include parts usage and hours allotted in the software system.
• Highlight immediately to the transport assistant any changes to timeframes for completion of scheduled or unscheduled maintenance.
• Advise stores staff re stock holdings if you deem to be low.
• Conduct fabrication repairs, as required.
• Keep workplace clear of slips, trips, falls and that it is keep to housekeeping standards.
• Use PPE as required.
• Knowledge of hydraulics and electrics advantageous but not essential, training will be provided.
