Job Overview
We are seeking a professional and reliable HGV Driver Class 2 to join our team. This role involves operating flatbed lorries to deliver goods efficiently and safely across designated routes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of commercial driving regulations and have experience in delivery operations. The position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic logistics environment, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining high safety standards. Wages are to be negotiated according to experience. 28 days holiday including bank holidays. Mainly Monday to Friday. The odd Saturday morning may be required.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class 2 HGV lorry, primarily with flatbed configurations, adhering to all road safety and traffic regulations.
- Load and secure goods onto the flatbed, ensuring proper weight distribution and safety during transit.
- Plan delivery routes effectively to meet scheduled deadlines and optimise fuel efficiency.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after journeys, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Assist with loading and unloading cargo at various locations, ensuring accuracy and care in handling goods.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, including delivery notes and logs.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery schedules or any unforeseen issues during transit.
- Professionalism when dealing with customers both pick ups and deliveries.
- Help with maintenance of vehicles and yard when needed i.e. washing them, yard maintenance when needed.
Experience
- Experience in commercial driving, particularly with flatbed vehicles or similar heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) preferred.
- Delivery driver experience is highly desirable, demonstrating familiarity with logistics operations.
- Valid Category C (Class 2) driving licence with no more than six penalty points.
- Knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for secure cargo transportation.
- Experience handling flatbed loads, including securing and unsecuring cargo safely during transit.

The odd night out is required - these are paid at £25 per night.
New passes welcome. Training on load security can be provided.
Pay: £13.50-£15.00 per hour
