Health Improvement Practitioner - Locum

Are you a registered health professional passionate about improving health and wellbeing outcomes in primary care?

Tū Ora Compass Health is seeking an experienced Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) Locum to provide temporary behavioural health support within participating general practices across the Wellington region. As an integral member of the primary care team, you will deliver brief evidence-based interventions that support people of all ages experiencing mental health, behavioural health, and physical health challenges.

About the Role

Working within general practice settings, you will:

• Deliver brief, evidence-based behavioural interventions for people of all ages.
• Support patients with mental health, wellbeing, lifestyle, and chronic health concerns.
• Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, Health Coaches, and wider practice teams.
• Provide consultation and guidance to primary care staff.
• Support individuals, whānau, and groups to identify and achieve meaningful health goals.
• Contribute to an integrated stepped-care model that connects patients with appropriate community and specialist services when required

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Registered Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) with at least 2 years of HIP experience.
• Registration as a health professional with a current practising certificate (e.g. Psychologist, Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Social Worker).
• Experience delivering evidence-based psychological or behavioural interventions.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment.
• A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving equity for Māori, Pacific peoples, and other priority populations.

Desirable

• Qualifications or training in CBT and/or ACT.
• Experience working with Māori, Pasifika, youth, and diverse communities.
• Knowledge of behavioural medicine and integrated primary care models.
