Full-Time \| Fully Remote \| Some Evening and Weekend Working Required \| Fixed-Term Contract
We're looking for an HCPC-registered Dietitian or AfN-registered Nutritionist to join our growing clinical team at one of the UK's most exciting health-tech companies.
In this role, you'll support people living with obesity to make sustainable lifestyle and behaviour changes, working as part of a multidisciplinary team within our Specialist Weight Management Service (SWMS).
This is a fully remote role: all delivery is via video consultation and in-app messaging, and you can be based anywhere in the UK. Flexibility is required to support some early evenings and Saturdays as and when needed to support our NHS contracts.
The Challenge More than 1 in 4 adults in the UK are living with obesity; a chronic condition that often negatively impacts their physical and mental health, and therefore quality of life. Access to specialist weight management services for the treatment of obesity remains limited and varies geographically due to a lack of funding. Existing services face long waiting lists, resulting in treatment delays which can adversely affect patient outcomes.
Enter Second Nature... By bringing together the latest behavioural science, psychology, technology, and the talents of our incredible team, our mission is to eradicate obesity and type 2 diabetes for all, and as part of that mission, we are aiming to increase access to effective treatment for people living with obesity. Second Nature provides specialist weight management services to support people living with obesity.
About us:
The Role We're looking for a dynamic Health Coach who is passionate about making a positive difference to those living with obesity to grow our current clinical team. You will be part of an innovative Specialist Weight Management Service (SWMS) that uses a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) approach to obesity treatment and technology to optimise patient engagement and outcomes. Our MDT includes doctors, dietitians, psychologists and physical activity specialists, all with special interests in obesity.
You will provide nutritional and lifestyle interventions to people living with obesity to support them to make sustainable dietary and behaviour changes, in collaboration with the MDT. You'll be using evidence-based health coaching techniques, such as motivational interviewing, goal setting and behaviour change frameworks. Whilst it is important to be able to work autonomously, you will receive comprehensive training. You will also have access to clinical supervision and support from senior clinicians.
This post is full-time (40 hours/week) and fixed-term, with flexible hours and a view to extend based on the needs of the service. You'll work fully remotely, connecting with service users through video consultations and in-app messaging. The role requires working some early evenings per week and Saturdays as and when needed to support our NHS contracts.
What you'll do:* Independently implement appropriate initial assessment methods to allocate service users to the most suitable treatment pathway * Deliver group-based and one-to-one nutritional and lifestyle interventions remotely via video calls, to support changes in dietary and physical activity behaviours * Provide ongoing coaching and support between sessions through in-app messaging * Support service users across both medicated and non-medicated programmes, including those accessing GLP-1 medication * Attend regular MDT meetings to monitor the care of our service users * Attend clinical supervision to discuss complex or high-risk cases * Appropriately manage clinical risk (e.g. safeguarding concerns) when it arises during clinical practice * Maintain adequate CPD, receive regular clinical supervision in accordance with good practice guidelines and continue to meet your registration requirements (HCPC or AfN) * Maintain confidentiality of information in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act and ensuring that participant confidentiality is protected at all times * Contribute to innovation projects, service evaluation, and ongoing programme development at Second Nature
Requirements You have experience working in a weight management/bariatric/eating disorder setting
You're comfortable working fully remotely
