To lead and manage the Wealth Solutions product teams in Malaysia, which cover the following functions:

  • Managed Investments
  • Capital Markets, Products and Solutions
  • Bancassurance

Core job objectives of the role covers the following

  • Develop, sustain and deliver Malaysia strategy for all Wealth Solutions Products across all client segments in the country, aligned with the global wealth solutions strategy
  • Provide leadership and execute the Business strategy in country, delivering innovative and industry-leading Wealth Solutions for WRB
  • Drive achievement of the wealth solutions and affluent financial targets covering Income, Costs, AUM, Net New Sales, client acquisitions, and overall profitability of the business
  • Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver market-leading digital and technology capabilities, and achieve desired results in usage and adoption
  • Manage in-country use portfolio insights and analytics to enhance client engagement effectiveness and efficiency
  • Manage the strategic key performance indicators to be covered under frontline scorecards, to drive the desired sales behaviour aligned to business needs.
  • Undertake assignments to explore and develop new business opportunities with selected client segments for Priority acquisitions and cross-sell
  • Take responsibility for embedding standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank Key Responsibilities Strategy

Wealth

  • Develop, sustain and deliver Malaysia strategy for all Wealth Solutions Products across all client segments in the country, aligned with the global Wealth Solutions strategy. This includes thinking beyond the restrictions of current product offerings and delivery channels, e.g. models like ‘WM as a service’
  • Provide leadership and execute the Business strategy in country, delivering innovative and industry-leading Wealth Solutions solutions for WRB
  • Anticipate unmet needs and new trends to craft the strategy and develop appropriate partnerships
  • Provide leadership and execute the Business strategy at a country level
  • Execute strategy around WRB Client Experience and Service and drive implementation in country, to build client experience as a key differentiator
  • Working in conjunction with the relevant local WRB functions, and through assignment to direct reports:

o Ensure strategy is implemented, managed and well governed.

o Be responsible and accountable for setting business strategy, managing performance and allocating resources across the Business.

o Play a key role in the annual strategy process and annual budget.

o Ensure reinforcement of our One Bank approach

  • Establish an integrated omnichannel experience view to deliver seamless, connected experience across all channels (Branches, V\&V, Digital, Mobile)
  • Oversee measurement and continuous client feedback loops to drive improvement in all experience metrics
  • Drive end-to-end client journeys, platforms and programme delivery. Align investments to enable development and roll out of global platforms

Business

Wealth Solutions - Product

  • Be aware and understand the wider business, economic and market environment in which the country operates
  • Drive implementation of key strategic business priorities for the country
  • Drive synergies and implement best practices in the country for business growth
  • Champion and implement a portfolio-based advisory process across the country salesforce
  • Own the Wealth Solutions financial targets such as Income, Costs, AUM, Net New Sales, etc and overall profitability of the business
  • Drive the achievement of in market key business drivers such as wealth activation and penetration, Net growth of Wealth Solutions clients, ROA etc.
  • Drive the in-country frontline adoption and monetization of Wealth Solutions digital capabilities such as PII, Order Management Systems etc
  • Own and organize key product processes for product origination (and product pipeline management), due diligence, sales and after sales
  • Actively use data insights for driving business
  • Drive common standards, where relevant, with regards to business model and process standards
  • Develop and implement key enablers to support the required business growth and meet/exceed customer needs:
  • Product strategies to drive client deepening aligned to target client segments
  • Lead and collaborate with cross functional teams to deliver market-leading digital and technology capabilities, and achieve desired results in usage and adoption
  • Drive strong client and frontline engagement by leveraging on our global advisory house views and generating relevant product strategies and approach tailored to market conditions and client needs
  • Lead wealth process and customer experience improvements, linked to NPS
  • Lead a culture of strong partnerships with product providers and develop standards with respect to third party products sold through the SCB distribution network
  • Promote SCB as the wealth manager of choice externally, leveraging on our competitive advantages/differentiation and proposition

Processes

  • Ensure proper policies and process control, and full compliance with internal and external guidelines
  • Working with direct reports and peers to ensure a consistent product delivery across the businesses
  • Drive bank-initiated campaigns and communications, client optimisation, client value proposition, leads generation

  • Build a strong leadership team in country, and an organisation capable of delivery short and long-term business objectives
  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from the team to ensure people are managed, recognised, and rewarded adequately
  • Work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
  • Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people, and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.
  • Employ, engage and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles.
  • Take responsibility to review team structure/capacity plans.
  • Set and monitor s and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.
  • Driving an environment of collaboration, both within the team and across the wider country, region and global teams, to ensure strategy alignment. Leverage on the wider stakeholder network to ensure issues are raised/escalated and blockages are resolved in a timely manner

Risk Management

  • Seek to understand the risk and control environment in country and drive rectification as required
  • Ensure adequate and appropriate systems and controls are in compliance with Group and country policies, procedures, standards, and codes to ensure:

o That team members can perform successfully in their roles

o There is clear oversight/ supervision / decision making e.g. committees

  • Ensure effective implementation of Risk Management framework throughout the organisation

o Risk appetite is clear and integral to the strategy with appropriate controls

o Effective processes in place to identify, manage and monitor and report risks

  • Embed the Group’s values and code of conduct and develop a robust culture to ensure that adherence with the highest standards of ethics, and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations among employees.
  • Ensure that Risk Management matters that are brought to the job holder’s attention are subject to direct remedial action and/or ensure adequate reporting to the relevant Risk Committees.
  • Drive the systems and procedures to safeguard the security, integrity and confidentiality of information

Governance

  • Provide oversight across products, ensuring compliance with the highest standards of regulatory conduct and compliance practices as defined by internal and external requirements. This includes compliance with local banking laws and other applicable laws (e.g. laws governing securities activities, company law) and anti-money laundering regulations and guidelines.
  • Embed the Group’s value and code of conduct in country to ensure adherence with the highest standards of ethics, and compliance with relevant policies, processes, and regulations amongst employee form part of the culture
  • Engage with all audit report findings in the countries and ensure feedback in acted upon
  • Monitor and analyse core conduct parameters for the assessment of conduct risk, facilitation of prompt mitigation and any necessary escalation.
  • Foster an open culture, promoting awareness and consequences of inappropriate behaviours.
  • Develop conduct related strategies and plan, with reference to Group’s conduct framework and policies and regulatory guidelines, to ensure sustainable business growth.
