Himal \& Co Barbershop is seeking a qualified and experienced Hairdresser to join our team in Sydney, NSW. This is a full-time, ongoing position requiring 38 hours of work per week.

Himal \& Co Barbershop is an established Sydney-based barbershop providing high-quality men’s grooming and hairdressing services, including precision haircuts, styling, beard grooming, hot-towel shaves, colouring and hair/scalp treatments. We are looking for a reliable and skilled Hairdresser who can provide excellent client service and contribute to the continued growth of our business.

About the Role

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing professional hairdressing and grooming services to clients, including cutting, styling, colouring, treating hair and scalp conditions, and advising clients on suitable hairstyles, hair care and grooming products. The role requires strong technical hairdressing skills, attention to detail, excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a busy client-focused salon/barbershop environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties of the position include, but are not limited to:

• Consulting with clients about their hair care needs, preferred styles, facial features and grooming preferences.
• Providing professional advice on hairstyles, hair care, grooming products and treatments.
• Shampooing hair and conditioning hair and scalps.
• Cutting, trimming and shaping hair using scissors, clippers and razors.
• Performing men’s haircuts, fades, blending, scissor cuts and modern/classic styling.
• Colouring, straightening, treating and styling hair using appropriate products and techniques.
• Applying chemical solutions where required, including colouring and hair treatment products.
• Shaving, shaping and trimming beards and moustaches, including traditional barbering and hot-towel shaving services.
• Treating hair and scalp conditions and recommending suitable products or services.
• Maintaining clean, safe and hygienic work areas, tools and equipment in accordance with workplace and health standards.
• Sterilising and maintaining instruments, clippers, razors and other salon/barbershop equipment.
• Arranging appointments, managing bookings and assisting with client payments where required.
• Building strong client relationships and supporting repeat business through high-quality service.
• Working cooperatively with the Salon Manager/Owner and other team members to maintain professional service standards.

Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

• Certificate III in Hairdressing or an equivalent recognised qualification.
• At least 2 years of full-time experience as a Hairdresser or Barber, or equivalent part-time experience.
• Demonstrated experience in men’s haircuts, fades, styling, beard trimming and grooming services.
• Knowledge of hair colouring, hair treatments, chemical services and hair/scalp care.
• Ability to use scissors, clippers, razors and other professional hairdressing tools safely and effectively.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Good personal presentation and a professional attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work a rotating roster, including Saturdays and occasional evenings where required.
• Working proficiency in English.
• Legal entitlement to work in Australia.

Desirable Skills and Experience

The following will be highly regarded:

• Certificate IV in Hairdressing or other advanced hairdressing/barbering training.
• Experience in a premium barbershop, salon or men’s grooming environment.
• Experience with hot-towel shaving and traditional barbering techniques.
• An existing client following or demonstrated ability to build repeat clientele.
