JOB DESCRIPTION - GROUND WORKER

Based near Castlepollard in Co. Westmeath, Lir Steelworks Ltd. is an engineering fabrication company specialising in bespoke, high-quality metalwork products and related services. It provides products and services to residential and commercial customers nationwide.

Job Title: Ground Worker

Job Purpose: Carrying out a range of groundwork and site-based activities to support the installation and completion of projects, working as part of a team and alongside other trades.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out a range of general groundwork and construction activities, including digging, excavation, concreting, setting levels and preparing ground for installation.
• Assist with the installation of steel structures, railings, gates, posts and other fabricated components on customer sites.
• Prepare foundations, holes and ground surfaces to the required dimensions and specifications.
• Operate hand tools, power tools and small machinery safely and effectively.
• Read and follow drawings, measurements and instructions accurately.
• Measure, mark out and set levels as required for site installations.
• Assist with loading, unloading, handling and positioning materials and equipment on site.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment on all sites.
• Work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues and other trades to ensure projects are completed efficiently.
• Work flexibly and adapt to changing requirements and priorities across different sites and projects.
• Work efficiently and remain focused when working to deadlines or under pressure.
• Take responsibility for maintaining high standards of health and safety and follow all company and site-specific procedures.
• Take responsibility for quality, timekeeping and attendance, and demonstrate respect towards colleagues, customers and others.
• Use initiative to identify and report potential issues or problems on site.
• Support the overall business through efficient, high-quality site work and project completion.
• Participate in company initiatives that support business growth, development and improvement.
• Contribute ideas and actively support continuous improvement across the business.
• Be willing to travel to customer sites and work outdoors in varying weather conditions as required.

Qualifications \& Experience

• Prior experience in groundwork, construction or a similar environment.
• Experience using hand tools and power tools.
• A full clean Irish driving licence.
• SafePass and Manual Handling training preferable but not essential.
• Experience with concrete, foundations, drainage or site preparation would be an advantage.
• Ability to read basic drawings and measurements would be an advantage.
• Relevant trade qualification or construction-related training is preferable but not essential.
