Geospatial Intelligence Analyst

Our GEOINT Analysts are responsible for acquiring, managing, analysing, integrating, and disseminating geospatial data and intelligence products that enhance navigation, situational awareness, and mission effectiveness.

Working in a highly technical and evolving environment, you will develop and apply expertise in geospatial information systems, data analytics, databases, programming, and geospatial workflows to produce high-quality intelligence products and services.

Your work will directly support the NZDF, the New Zealand Intelligence Community, and wider government agencies in achieving their operational objectives and strategic outcomes.

You will work with a wide range of customers and will become a subject matter expert on topics of domestic and international interest.

This role is based in Devonport Naval Base. Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate must work from the office. Flexible hours are negotiable to navigate traffic challenges.

Occasional domestic and international travel is required. You will have the opportunity to travel overseas for specialised technical training.

The salary for this role ranges from $78,838 to $87,477, inclusive of a 4% superannuation contribution. Appointments within this range are based on skills and experience.

Nga pukenga me nga wheako \| Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have 2-3 years (minimum) in the Geospatial Information industry, along with an advanced understanding of geospatial products and datasets in addition to a detailed knowledge of GIS software such as the ESRI suite.

You will be a self-starter who is able to work autonomously while also collaborating with the wider team when needed. Your relationship management and service delivery skills are your strength, with the ability to understand customer's needs.

You will also be very keen to keep learning, to make the most of the professional development opportunities provided to you.

You will also have:

• Experience fostering and maintaining professional working relationships with a diverse range of partners and customers.
• Well-developed analytical and research skills.
• Excellent communication skills including an ability to research and obtain information from various sources and tailor this to meet customer requirements.
• Experience with information requirements management, collection coordination and planning.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications.

An interest in Aeronautical / Aviation would be advantageous.

Higher Level Security Clearance

• You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.
• At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last ten (10) years.
• You must have a ten (10) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
