About the role
Balfour Beatty Power T\&D is seeking a General Operative / HGV Driver 2 to join our team in West Wales, with a reporting depot in Swansea supporting works across Swansea and Bridgend.
This role will support reinstatement activities and operational delivery on LV \& HV cable systems, including work in highways and substations. You will operate as part of a multi-skilled team, contributing to safe and efficient delivery of essential electricity infrastructure projects.
What you'll be doing
Operational Duties:
- Operate and support HGV / grab lorry activities in line with project requirements
- Assist with excavation, trench preparation, and reinstatement of LV \& HV cable systems
- Support the installation and maintenance of associated assets and infrastructure
- Ensure all deliveries, materials, and equipment are handled safely and efficiently
Health, Safety \& Compliance:
- Adhere to all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards at all times
- Ensure worksites are properly signed, guarded, and maintained
- Report hazards, incidents, and near misses in line with company procedures
- Only operate plant and equipment when authorised and competent
Team \& Site Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, team members, subcontractors, and clients
- Maintain cleanliness, security, and organisation of site, vehicles, and equipment
- Support team leaders to ensure project delivery meets programme and quality standards
- Represent Balfour Beatty professionally, demonstrating safe and compliant behaviours at all times

Who we're looking for
Essential Requirements
- HGV Driver qualification (Category C or above)
- Experience working in a manual, site-based environment
- Strong understanding of Health \& Safety practices
- Ability to use hand tools correctly and follow instructions
- Proven ability to work as part of a team
- Flexible approach to site-based work
Desirable
- Experience in power, utilities, or cabling works
- Streetworks (NRSWA)
- Excavator / Dumper tickets
- ALMI Crane certificate
- Full UK driving licence
