About the Role:
Glasgow has a strong tradition of craftsmanship, design and practical innovation, and at Gazioglu Furniture and Interiors Ltd, we bring those qualities into every piece we create. We design and deliver bespoke furniture and interior solutions for residential, commercial and hospitality spaces across the United Kingdom.
We are looking for a Furniture Designer who can turn client ideas into practical, attractive and production-ready designs. You will work closely with customers, project coordinators, suppliers and workshop teams to develop furniture that balances appearance, functionality, durability and budget.
This is a mid-level position for someone who enjoys creative design but also understands how furniture is manufactured, installed and used in real spaces.
Why Work With Us?
The Environment:
Our Glasgow team works in a collaborative and practical environment where designers remain involved from the first client discussion through to production and installation. You will have the opportunity to see your concepts become finished furniture rather than handing them over and moving on.
Creative Ownership:
You will be trusted to develop original design concepts, recommend materials and finishes and improve designs based on client feedback and production requirements.
Varied Projects:
Our work includes fitted furniture, storage solutions, reception areas, office furniture, retail displays, residential interiors and bespoke cabinetry. No two projects are exactly the same.
Professional Growth:
You will work alongside experienced project and production professionals, giving you the opportunity to strengthen your technical knowledge, client presentation skills and understanding of furniture manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
Furniture Design:
Create functional and visually appealing furniture concepts based on client requirements, site measurements, budgets and project specifications.
Technical Drawings:
Prepare accurate two-dimensional and three-dimensional drawings, layouts and production-ready specifications for workshop and installation teams.
Material Selection:
Recommend suitable materials, finishes, hardware and fittings based on appearance, durability, cost and intended use.
Client Consultation:
Meet with clients to understand their requirements, present design concepts and revise proposals based on practical feedback.
Production Coordination:
Work closely with workshop teams, suppliers and project coordinators to ensure designs can be manufactured and installed efficiently.
Design Development:
Review prototypes, samples and completed products to identify improvements in construction, functionality and finish quality.
Project Documentation:
Maintain organised drawings, specifications, material schedules and design revisions throughout each project.
Site Support:
Attend site visits when required to take measurements, confirm installation conditions and resolve design-related issues.
What We Are Looking For:
Experience:
At least 3 years of experience in furniture design, interior joinery, cabinetry, product design or a closely related field.
Education:
A qualification in Furniture Design, Product Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design or a related subject is preferred.
Portfolio:
A strong portfolio showing completed furniture, cabinetry, interior or product design projects. We are particularly interested in seeing your design process, technical drawings and finished results.
Technical Skills:
Confident use of furniture or design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, SolidWorks, Fusion 360 or similar applications.
Manufacturing Knowledge:
A practical understanding of furniture construction, materials, fittings, joinery methods and production limitations.
Communication:
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to discuss concepts with clients and explain technical details to production teams.
Attention to Detail:
You can identify measurement issues, construction challenges and design inconsistencies before they reach production.
Mindset:
You are creative, practical and organised. You understand that a successful furniture design must look attractive, meet the client brief and be realistic to manufacture.
Pay: £2,982.00-£3,000.00 per month
Work Location: In person
