About Forgotten Women

Forgotten Women is a UK registered charity supporting women and communities affected by poverty, conflict and humanitarian crises.

We are looking for a motivated, organised and confident Fundraising Officer to join our team and help develop and deliver fundraising activities throughout the year.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys engaging with people, organising events, developing fundraising ideas and building lasting relationships with donors, communities and organisations.

About the Role

As a Fundraising Officer, you will play an important role in generating income for Forgotten Women through a variety of fundraising activities.

You will be involved in planning and delivering fundraising events, sponsored activities, digital campaigns, donor initiatives, community fundraising and corporate engagement.

The role combines fundraising, event coordination, donor engagement and relationship management, and requires someone who is comfortable taking ownership of projects from initial idea through to delivery and follow-up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver fundraising campaigns and initiatives throughout the year
  • Plan and coordinate fundraising events, sponsored walks, challenges and community activities
  • Identify new fundraising opportunities and develop creative ideas to increase income
  • Engage with existing and prospective donors
  • Build relationships with individuals, businesses, community groups and potential partners
  • Develop corporate fundraising and sponsorship opportunities
  • Support donor acquisition, engagement, retention and follow-up
  • Coordinate volunteers and fundraising support teams where required
  • Develop and support digital fundraising campaigns
  • Work with internal teams to promote fundraising events and campaigns
  • Prepare event and campaign proposals before activities are launched
  • Complete risk assessments and relevant event planning documentation
  • Coordinate venues, suppliers, volunteers and other event requirements
  • Ensure marketing and promotional materials are approved before publication
  • Maintain accurate fundraising, donor and event records
  • Work with the Finance team to reconcile fundraising income and event expenditure
  • Prepare post-event and campaign reports
  • Attend fundraising reviews, team meetings and planning sessions
  • Support the charity in achieving agreed fundraising objectives and milestones

Fundraising Activities

Fundraising activity may include:

  • Charity events
  • Sponsored walks and challenges
  • Community fundraising

  • Donor appeals
  • Corporate fundraising
  • Sponsorship opportunities
  • Local fundraising initiatives
  • Partnership development
  • Other fundraising activities agreed with the line manager

The role involves delivering a consistent programme of fundraising activity throughout the year, with plans and priorities agreed with the line manager.

Event \& Campaign Management

The Fundraising Officer will be expected to manage fundraising activities professionally from planning through to completion.

This may include:

  • Preparing event or campaign plans
  • Obtaining approval before promotion or expenditure
  • Completing risk assessments
  • Coordinating marketing requirements
  • Supporting volunteer coordination
  • Managing donor and supporter communications
  • Ensuring approved payment and donation methods are used
  • Maintaining appropriate fundraising records
  • Completing post-event reporting and evaluation

Donor \& Community Engagement

A key part of the role will be developing positive relationships with supporters.

You will:

  • Communicate professionally with donors and supporters
  • Encourage participation in fundraising campaigns and events
  • Develop relationships with community groups
  • Identify opportunities to grow the charity's supporter network
  • Maintain appropriate donor follow-up and stewardship
  • Represent Forgotten Women professionally at fundraising activities and events

Previous charity fundraising experience is desirable; however, applicants with strong transferable skills in events, sales, business development, community engagement or relationship management are also encouraged to apply.

Working Arrangements

This is a full-time employee position working 40 hours per week.

The role may involve:

  • Home working
  • Working from the Forgotten Women office
  • Travel to fundraising events across the UK
  • Occasional attendance at events outside standard office hours where required
  • Attendance at team meetings, planning sessions, training and event debriefs

Flexibility will be required around the fundraising and events calendar.
