Role Summary
This is a high-impact senior role that sits at the intersection of Engineering, Data, and
Product. As a Full Stack AI Engineer, you will not only build and deploy AI/ML solutions but
also integrate them end-to-end into our products — from the backend services that power
them to the front-end experiences that deliver them to users. You will steer Penny's approach
to Machine Learning and AI, identifying opportunities to deliver measurable customer value
and shipping the complete, scalable solutions to realize it. Your work will directly impact
thousands of procurement professionals across the MENA region.

If successful, this role has the potential to develop into a Team Leadership position as we
expand our dedicated AI/ML team.

What You'll Do: Core Responsibilities
You will be at the forefront of integrating AI and ML into procurement workflows, focusing on
building intelligent solutions that solve real-world customer problems — and owning them
from model to user interface.

1. AI/ML Development \& Deployment

• Build AI agents and automated chatbots that can reason, take actions, and drive

procurement workflows autonomously.

• Develop solutions utilizing the latest Large Language Model (LLM) techniques to create

tangible customer value.

• Apply OCR and vision models to extract, understand, and process documents and other

unstructured procurement data.

• Architect and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems to provide

accurate, contextual, and grounded responses to user queries.

• Host and deploy your own custom AI models online on GCP or other cloud platforms.
• Create robust algorithms for advanced pattern recognition and process automation within

complex procurement workflows.

2. Full Stack Integration

• Integrate AI solutions end-to-end — building the backend services that expose them and

the front-end interfaces that surface them to users.

• Develop intuitive, AI-powered user experiences using modern front-end frameworks such

as Angular.

• Ensure AI features are wired cleanly into our existing product, from API to UI.

3. Deployment \& Technical Leadership

• Ensure all AI solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable within our existing micro-

service architecture.

• Host, deploy, and monitor custom and open-source models on cloud infrastructure (GCP

or similar).

• Conduct rigorous A/B testing and performance optimization, ensuring the solution's

performance meets business requirements.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship on AI and full-stack best practices to other

engineers at Penny.

• Own the solution life cycle from concept through to final deployment and monitoring.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner closely with Product teams to identify the highest-value opportunities for AI-

driven improvements.

• Collaborate with Data teams to ensure high-quality training data, feature engineering, and

labeling processes.

• Work with UX teams to translate complex models into intuitive, AI-powered user

experiences.

What You Need to Succeed

• Experience: 4+ years of hands-on experience in AI development, specifically deploying

and managing solutions in production environments.

• Agentic Development: Proven experience building AI agents and automated chatbots —

going beyond simple prompting to systems that reason and take action.

• LLM \& Model Techniques: Strong command of modern LLM techniques, plus hands-on

experience applying OCR and vision models to real problems.

• Model Deployment: Ability to host and deploy your own custom (and open-source)

models online on GCP or another cloud platform.

• Full Stack Ability: Solid backend engineering skills plus front-end proficiency with a

modern framework (Angular) sufficient to integrate AI solutions into the product yourself.

• Production Impact: Proven ability to solve complex business problems using AI/ML,

demonstrating:

◦ Rigorous evaluation of solution effectiveness.
◦ Measurable business impact of your implementations.

• Technical Foundation: Strong understanding of data processing, model evaluation

techniques, and building high-performance, distributed systems.

Desired Qualifications (Pluses)

• Experience fine-tuning or training custom models.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure) and their

native AI services.

• Experience with Arabic language application of AI and ML.
• Knowledge of procurement, supply chain, or enterprise SaaS software domain.
