Job Description

About Picster

Picster is a travel photography marketplace. Travellers book a local photographer in the place they’re visiting, and we handle everything around it — the booking, the customer, the editing and the delivery. We’re live in 77 destinations worldwide and Bangkok is one of the destinations where we're growing our photographer network.

Our customers are mostly couples, families and people marking something: an anniversary, a proposal, a first trip somewhere together. They want good photographs of themselves in a place they love, without the faff of organising a shoot abroad.

The work

This is contract work, shoot by shoot. Each booking is its own contract — you see the job, you accept it, you shoot it. No rota, no minimum commitment, so it sits alongside your existing client work rather than competing with it.

Sessions run from 30 minutes up to 90 minutes. Most are short and straightforward. Some are longer and more bespoke — bigger families, several locations and specific requests — and those give you more room to get creative.

The focus is natural, colourful photography that captures Bangkok's unique combination of vibrant street life, traditional architecture and iconic cultural landmarks. Think couples walking beneath Chinatown's glowing neon signs, families exploring lively streets, relaxed portraits beside the Chao Phraya River and cinematic photographs with Wat Arun in the background.

Some bookings also include a short video reel, so there's variety beyond the usual portrait session.

Where you’ll shoot

  • Yaowarat Road, Chinatown — colourful neon signs, bustling streets and natural walking portraits
  • Traditional Chinatown shopfronts — distinctive Chinese architecture, vibrant colours and character-filled backdrops
  • Chinatown alleyways — atmospheric streets, hidden corners and intimate candid moments
  • Wat Arun — iconic temple architecture, intricate details and elegant cultural portraits
  • Chao Phraya River — beautiful riverside scenery, traditional Thai boats and relaxed waterfront photography
  • Tha Tian and Maha Rat Road — charming streets and scenic viewpoints framing Wat Arun in the distance
  • Wat Arun temple grounds — beautiful architectural details, gardens and traditional Thai surroundings
  • Bespoke requests that take you further afield

For Bangkok Chinatown, most sessions begin outside the 7-Eleven at 133 Thanon Yaowaphanit, Samphanthawong, before heading towards Yaowarat Road and the surrounding streets.

Longer Chinatown sessions can continue through atmospheric alleyways and traditional neighbourhood streets, offering a mix of colourful shopfronts, vibrant neon signs and authentic Bangkok street scenes.

For Bangkok Wat Arun, sessions begin outside the 7-Eleven at 69/4 Arun Amarin Road, near Wat Arun Temple.

Shorter sessions focus on the temple grounds and surrounding riverside areas. Longer sessions can include crossing the Chao Phraya River for beautiful views of Wat Arun, followed by additional photographs around Tha Tian and Maha Rat Road.

There's flexibility in the route. We trust you to know the area, find the best light and choose locations that work for each customer.

What it pays

€50 per hour for standard photography bookings. A 30-minute session pays €25. A one-hour session pays €50, and a 90-minute session pays €75.

There are also specialist bookings. For Bangkok Chinatown, the Ultimate 90-minute package, which includes 50 photographs and a 30-second video reel, is priced at €100.

For Bangkok Wat Arun, the Ultimate 90-minute package, which includes 50 photographs and a 30-second video reel, is priced at €75.

There's also genuine upside in offering customers more from their session. If they want additional photographs, another location or something more bespoke, there are opportunities for additional sales.

Customers can purchase extra photographs after their shoot, and photographers who create a comfortable, enjoyable experience are well placed to encourage those purchases.

Who we’re looking for

  • A working photographer based in or around Bangkok who knows Chinatown, Wat Arun and the city's best photography locations
  • Comfortable with people — couples, families, children and international travellers
  • Your own professional camera kit
  • Confident photographing people naturally, from candid moments to more polished, editorial-style portraits
  • Comfortable shooting in busy streets and tourist locations, using creative framing and background blur to keep photographs clean
  • Able to capture a good variety of images, from close-up details to wide architectural, cultural and street compositions
  • Confident working with different lighting conditions, from bright temple surroundings to Chinatown's colourful evening neon lights
  • Reliable. Turning up on time, every time, matters more here than anything else
  • Enough English to look after an international customer. Thai obviously useful

You don't need a studio or a wedding portfolio. You need to make people look good outdoors, quickly, and be easy to deal with.

The best photographers for this work are the ones who can capture Bangkok's vibrant character and cultural beauty while making customers feel relaxed, comfortable and genuinely themselves.

How it works

You shoot. We do the rest — the customer, the booking, the payment, the photo editing and the delivery. Edited photographs reach the customer within 48 hours, so you're not losing your evenings to photo post-production.

Depending on the booking, customers receive 20, 50 or 75 edited photographs, with the option to purchase more afterwards. The Ultimate package also includes a 30-second video reel, which you'll be responsible for editing.

You'll upload your RAW photographs after the shoot, and our creative team will handle the photo editing and final delivery.

You'll work as a self-employed contractor and invoice us for completed shoots. You keep your own clients and work for whoever else you like.

To apply

Send a link to your portfolio — Instagram is fine — and tell us where around Bangkok Chinatown or Wat Arun you'd take a couple for the best photographs at golden hour.

If you have experience photographing in busy urban environments, cultural landmarks or creating short video highlights, we'd love to see examples of your work too.
