We have an exciting 6-month Fixed Term opportunity for a Fitter Welder to join the Rolling Mills Maintenance team.

About the Role

Reporting to the Plant Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of plant and equipment across the Rolling Mills, helping to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operations.

Working as part of a skilled maintenance team, you'll be involved in a variety of planned and breakdown maintenance activities, applying your mechanical trade skills to troubleshoot, repair and maintain a wide range of equipment. This is a Monday to Friday role, with the expectation of supporting overtime, shift cover and callouts when required.

This is an excellent opportunity to broaden your experience, develop your technical capability and gain exposure to NZ Steels Rolling Mills while making a valuable contribution to plant performance.

What you will bring to the role

To be successful, you will bring:

• A Full Mechanical Trade Certificate is essential.
• Experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Solid computer literacy.
• A positive attitude with a commitment to safety and quality.
• Proven reliability, including a strong attendance and work history.
• Welding certification or experience (advantageous).

A strong commitment to health and safety is essential, along with a willingness to contribute positively to a collaborative and high-performing team.
