Job Description

Key Roles \& Responsibilities

  • Design \& Engineering: Designing fire detection/suppression systems (sprinklers, foam, gas, hose reels) and performing hydraulic calculations using software like Elite or HYDRACALC.
  • Installation \& Supervision: Supervising the site installation of fire pumps, sprinklers, and piping systems, ensuring adherence to approved drawings.
  • Compliance \& Approval: Ensuring all systems comply with local regulations (e.g., ADCD/UAE Fire \& Life Safety Code) and international standards like NFPA 13, 14, 20, and 2001.
  • Testing \& Commissioning: Testing fire protection systems, conducting hydrostatic pressure testing, and conducting fire pump performance verifications.
  • Maintenance \& Audit: Conducting regular site audits, maintenance, and risk assessments to ensure fire pumps and systems are fully operational. [1, 2, 3]

Requirements \& Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Fire Protection Engineering.
  • Experience: Typically 3–8 years of experience in fire protection systems.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Often requires membership in local engineering bodies (e.g., UAE Society of Engineers) and relevant Civil Defense certifications.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD and knowledge of NFPA standards. [1, 2, 3]
