Key Roles \& Responsibilities
- Design \& Engineering: Designing fire detection/suppression systems (sprinklers, foam, gas, hose reels) and performing hydraulic calculations using software like Elite or HYDRACALC.
- Installation \& Supervision: Supervising the site installation of fire pumps, sprinklers, and piping systems, ensuring adherence to approved drawings.
- Compliance \& Approval: Ensuring all systems comply with local regulations (e.g., ADCD/UAE Fire \& Life Safety Code) and international standards like NFPA 13, 14, 20, and 2001.
- Testing \& Commissioning: Testing fire protection systems, conducting hydrostatic pressure testing, and conducting fire pump performance verifications.
- Maintenance \& Audit: Conducting regular site audits, maintenance, and risk assessments to ensure fire pumps and systems are fully operational. [1, 2, 3]
Requirements \& Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Fire Protection Engineering.
- Experience: Typically 3–8 years of experience in fire protection systems.
- Licenses/Certifications: Often requires membership in local engineering bodies (e.g., UAE Society of Engineers) and relevant Civil Defense certifications.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD and knowledge of NFPA standards. [1, 2, 3]
