The role

We are looking for an experienced and improvement-focused Financial Accountant to join our Commercial Finance team at Berkeley Vale.

In this role, you will take ownership of key financial accounting processes, delivering accurate financial information, effective controls, timely analysis and dependable service to internal stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include cashflow forecasting, reconciliations, journals and other important month-end and financial accounting activities.

What you’ll do

As Financial Accountant, you will:

  • Own and deliver assigned month-end, quarter-end and year-end accounting processes, reporting, forecasting and compliance activities.
  • Prepare, maintain and continually improve cashflow forecasts, including coordinating inputs, challenging assumptions and explaining variances.
  • Prepare and review reconciliations, journals, balance sheet analysis and other month-end deliverables.
  • Investigate aged or unusual items and work with relevant stakeholders to resolve exceptions.
  • Prepare assigned financial statement sections, supporting schedules and audit documentation.
  • Support banking and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Complete assigned GST, PAYG instalment, FBT, Container Deposit Scheme and other regulatory processes.
  • Assist with fixed asset accounting, project closures, capitalisation and related financial controls.
  • Maintain accurate, review-ready working papers, procedures, controls and process documentation.
  • Identify and implement practical process improvements using Excel, workflow tools, analytics, automation and responsible AI.
  • Partner with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Commercial Finance, Procurement, cost centre owners, external auditors, banks and other stakeholders.

What you’ll bring

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • An accounting or business degree, or an Associate Diploma majoring in accounting.
  • CPA or CA qualifications, or be actively studying towards them.
  • At least five years’ experience within an accounting function.
  • Strong knowledge of FBT.
  • A good understanding of accounting standards, practices and compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with a large ERP accounting system.
  • Strong Excel capability and confidence adopting digital, analytical and automation tools.
  • Excellent planning, organisation and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and experience contributing to continuous improvement.
  • Strong attention to detail and a disciplined approach to financial controls and supporting evidence.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and build effective relationships with internal stakeholdersExperience using SAP will be highly regarded.
