About the Job

The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support, commissioning, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and after-sales service for machinery used in the pharmaceutical and packaging sectors.

This role requires strong hands-on technical capability, customer-facing communication skills, and the ability to work independently on customer sites. The successful candidate will support equipment installation, preventive maintenance, machine inspections, technical improvements, and service documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the commissioning, installation, and Site Acceptance Tests of new machines at customer sites.
  • Assist with finalization work and Factory Acceptance Tests when required.
  • Update and complete site documentation after service activities.
  • Perform general field service activities, including preventive maintenance, calibration, overhaul, fault finding, machine inspection, and spare parts listing.
  • Provide technical advice to customers on site or remotely.
  • Clarify technical problems and solutions with internal technical teams when necessary.
  • Recommend technical improvements, including overhauls, modernization, modifications, and spare parts replacement.
  • Prepare all required service reports, documentation, and filing related to field service activities.
  • Explain the service scope to customers before starting the job and review completed work after service delivery.
  • Create and follow up on open-point lists after service visits.
  • For senior-level candidates: supervise site activities and provide training or guidance to other field service engineers.

Profile Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in the pharmaceutical, packaging, machinery, or related industrial equipment sector.
  • Strong hands-on experience with machine installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and field service support.
  • Ability to update Rockwell and/or Siemens PLC programs and HMI systems.
  • Good verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate in Chinese.
  • Strong customer service mindset with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to clients.
  • Able to work independently on customer sites and coordinate with internal technical teams.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% across the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical or regulated production environments is highly preferred.
  • Senior candidates should have experience in site management, team supervision, or training other engineers.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a technically strong Service Engineer with solid experience in pharmaceutical or packaging machinery. They should be comfortable working directly with customers, diagnosing technical issues on site, and providing practical solutions under time-sensitive conditions.

They should also be familiar with automation systems, especially Rockwell or Siemens PLC and HMI platforms, and be able to support both mechanical and electrical troubleshooting. A proactive attitude, clear communication style, and willingness to travel are essential for success in this role.
