At JB Heavy Vehicle Repairs, we specialise in truck and trailer body repairs, fibreglass work, structural repairs, modifications and rebuilds for the transport industry.

We’re looking for a skilled, hands-on tradesperson who takes pride in quality workmanship and enjoys seeing a repair through from damaged to finished product.

This is not a mechanical role - we complete structural and cosmetic repairs to truck and trailer bodies, fibreglass components and transport equipment.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for carrying out high-quality fibreglass repairs, body repairs and finishing work across a range of heavy vehicles and transport equipment.

From laminating and structural repairs to panel replacement and refinishing, you’ll play an important role in getting vehicles back on the road safely and to a high standard.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Assess vehicle and trailer damage and determine repair requirements
• Carry out fibreglass repairs, laminating, bonding and structural repairs
• Hand laminate polyester resins and fibreglass materials
• Cut, shape and detail fibreglass components and repair sections
• Replace panels, extrusions and structural body components where required
• Sand, prep and refinish repaired surfaces to a high standard
• Read and follow job cards, repair instructions and technical drawings
• Safely use workshop equipment, moulding tools, spray equipment and cutting tools
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workspace
• Work with the team to meet repair deadlines and daily production targets
• Follow workshop procedures and safety requirements

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is practical, reliable and takes pride in doing quality work.

You may come from a fibreglass, vehicle body building, fabrication, panel, trailer repair or transport repair background.

To be successful, you will ideally have:

• Experience in fibreglass repairs, laminating, body building, fabrication or vehicle body repair
• Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
• Experience working with fibreglass materials, resins and finishing processes
• Ability to read job cards, technical drawings and repair instructions
• Experience using fabrication and workshop tools safely and effectively
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
• Reliable attitude with strong work ethic and team mindset
• Experience in trucks, trailers, transport equipment or heavy vehicles (highly regarded)
• Australian work rights

Desirable (but not required)

• Experience in heavy vehicle body building or trailer repairs
• Fibreglass spray-up or advanced laminating experience
• Welding, fabrication or panel experience
• Blasting, prep or paint experience

Pay: $40.00 – $48.00 per hour
